Another issue was that the Me262 went so much faster than the bombers it was supposed to target, the pilots only had a window of a few seconds to get the bomber in their sights and shoot it down.
The me 262 was feilded way too late because Hitler was a big idiot. Also the thing was fast (the plane not hitler) but the pilots had to be gentle on the throttle or the engines would flame out. Pretty rough thing to happen at 20,000 feet with a mustang on your tail. also the engines had a life of only like 25 hours. Only a dilettante like Hitler could turn a war winner into a flop.
The japanese were reluctant to attack the Russians, even at the point when the Germans had them on the ropes ( they japans got their asses kicked at kholkin ghal in 1939 by the Russians), so instead they preferred to attack the USA.

@raab155 An army that depended on horse-drawn wagons for logistics from regimental level on down, like the Wehrmacht demonstrably did, can hardly be described as "the most efficient". Don't confuse elite units like the Großdeutschland or the PzGren Divisions with the majority of the Wehrmacht.
As to atrocities, I suggest looking up the survival rate of Russian POWs in German hands. For even more "fun", look into the civilian death toll in German-occupied Russia.

I really don't agree with how the narrator makes it sound like as soon as America joined the fight they won the war by themselves. While America's assistance was very valuable it took the efforts of many nations to bring down the Nazis. Russia had to fight the Germans on the western front almost by themselves, the British fought through the entire length of the war and gained little, even the French Resistance fought even while the French army failed.

This was his big failure for if he had listened to his professional commanders then the Germans would surely have won WWII. @huswsimonbla You dont understand, using the me262 for defence could never win the war, only prolong it. He was hoping for a weapon that could stop the hordes of Russian ground forces. Once you understand this you can see why he wanted to use the me262 as a bomber. U can possibly understtand the reasoning when you look at the big picture. He was clutching at straws and his opinion on the 262 is understandable. Shooting down b17s would not stop the russians or RAF night bombing

Another issue was that the Me262 went so much faster than the bombers it was supposed to target, the pilots only had a window of a few seconds to get the bomber in their sights and shoot it down.

The me 262 was feilded way too late because Hitler was a big idiot. Also the thing was fast (the plane not hitler) but the pilots had to be gentle on the throttle or the engines would flame out. Pretty rough thing to happen at 20,000 feet with a mustang on your tail. also the engines had a life of only like 25 hours. Only a dilettante like Hitler could turn a war winner into a flop.

@raab155 An army that depended on horse-drawn wagons for logistics from regimental level on down, like the Wehrmacht demonstrably did, can hardly be described as "the most efficient". Don't confuse elite units like the Großdeutschland or the PzGren Divisions with the majority of the Wehrmacht.
As to atrocities, I suggest looking up the survival rate of Russian POWs in German hands. For even more "fun", look into the civilian death toll in German-occupied Russia.

@CoriolanusAtrox Hmm That the Wehrmacht was most efficient in WW 2 is a fact and is not up for debate. first generation german troop trained before 1942 were the best trained soldiers of the war. even the lowest grunt had 2-6 years of training. they were not only superior in Training, but also in tactics. logistical things were organized by train, if it was possible. Wehrmacht fought in many diferent regions (Europe, Russia, Afrika) while the the Allies (except USA) only had one front.

The most amazing part is the story of one of the first pilots flying the 262 with the R4M missiles.. The description of attacking the massive bomber formations and fire a few rockets into the bombers.. watching it disintergrate into a could of metal and larger bits.. On foot with his supplies and artillery behind him propelled entirely by horse drawn wagons.

Germany used over 2.3 million horses during ww2.

Although the infantry did make daily advances in Russia that still turn professional soldiers green with envy. IIRC, they averaged some 50km, which is nearly double the distance expected of a modern mechanised division.
But, as always, amateurs discuss toys and tactics. Professionals study logistics. Few people know that the German log system nearly broke down during the 1940 Western campaign. That it would collapse in Russia was a given.

German troops were some of the most professional troops in the world. For those who think that the German soldier was no different from any other, you are right, they were not. Training and an officer corps as well as an elite military tradition did make the difference. With bolt action rifles, they had control over most of Europe. No small feat. It is only with highly trained troops that you can accomplish such a feat, much like Frederick The Great did in the 1700's.

Hitler should have let his military advisers lead his army's and let a Military leader run the Waffen-SS. I really don't agree with how the narrator makes it sound like as soon as America joined the fight they won the war by themselves. While America's assistance was very valuable it took the efforts of many nations to bring down the Nazis. Russia had to fight the Germans on the western front almost by themselves, the British fought through the entire length of the war and gained little, even the French Resistance fought even while the French army failed.

Like all dictators, Adolf Hitler wanted to micro manage every facet of his regime. This was his big failure for if he had listened to his professional commanders then the Germans would surely have won WWII. What the Nazis did was disgusting, but anyone would have to admire the ability of their commanders and technical people. The allies negated their ability to wage war and didnt actually beat the Germans head to head (on a level playing field). Tank crews and fighter jets without fuel!

@xGothimox I hate to disagree but the Americans had overall better technology, it was more reliable, able ot be produced easier (and cheaper usually) and was simple to maintain and use during battle. The Germans had lost the war the day it started, they never had a chance, America had too many brilliant soldiers both in Europe and home in the states making the items for the G.I.'s. But lets not forget we (as in we Americans) nuked Japan and bitch slapped the Axis empire back to the stone age lol

It took a lot more Nations then just america to beat Germany in WW2. If America decided to invade Germany on its own, they would have lost. The military equipment of the germans were way better quality then the americans.American tanks or weapons were cheap and mass production. The kill ratio of an Tiger Tank vs Sherman is 1 to 4! Does america use still WW2 weapons? Germany still use the WW2 MG42 as MG3 and it is STILL the best squad MG

Best combat aircrafts were the Me 262 and the Horton hix. the best gun was the STG 44 and MG42. Also germany had rockets and the best tactics. german technologie at the end of the war was 40 years ahead of other nations. Also germany was the leading nation in nuclear tech. if Hitler had waited a few years longer the war only had one possible outcome. But he was an idiot.

If Hitler had denounced Japanese sneak attack on USA the Americans would have focused their efforts against the Japanese and may not have even declared war on Germany. Temperment in America towards the Germans was quite mixed and slight majority of Americans wanted to stay out of "Europe's War". Hitler made a BIG mistake in declaring war on the USA!
