Tbh when you look at it, Floyd actually HAS consistently fought the best...at 130lbs he faced the best in the form of Diego Corrales, at 135lbs he fought Joe Luis Castillo, he didn't face Hatton at 140lbs but did indeed KO him at 147lbs, and at that weight he defeated Baldomir, the lineal welterweight champion. By 2007, De La Hoya wasn't necessarily the best at light-middleweight, but he'd still KTFO'd Ricardo Mayorga in his previous fight.
...Basically Mayweather gets unfairly maligned imo
