Thank you, Trumpetman. Takes me back to Waikiki Shell 1974, with Seawind (then Ox) with gorgeous Pauline Wilson in a jeans skirt and that tight band as a WARM UP group for Herbie Hancock, Hubert Laws, Ron Carter, Grover Washington, Jr, and George Benson when he only sang to his guitar. Sweet intro to jazz! Thank you Seawind and the Seawind Horns for all the years of great music!
@wblighting Thank you for the verification. That stage held so much talent, I sometimes wondered if I just dreamt it up. I think Steve Gadd, Johnny Hammond, Airto and Hank Crawford rounded out the CTI Jazz All-Stars.
Awesome!!! Are you kidding??? saw them at concetrs by the sea in Redondo Beach;Warner BRos. producer Tommy LaPuma dancin' in the iles;Great songs and drums,Bob Wilson!!! Jimmy Q.Go to Facebook/find a cure for Huntington's disease for music downloads at no cost.Jazz, funk,Latin rock.Hope I get to jam with all of you someday.jq
Reminds me so much of my youth in the 70's and when I visited Honolulu Hawaii in 1975 when my family moved from Australia. Happy days and years growing up :)
Thank you so much for posting this extremely rare video. I too am from Pauline's hometown of Hilo and loved this awesome, talented band! I wish there were more videos of their performances.
Thanks for posting this rare video! Brings back memories of what an awesome, talented group they were. So proud to know that Pauline is from my small town of Hilo!
I love Pauline. Her father hails from Siquijor, Philippines. The dialect they spoke there is Visayan. I come from the island of Cebu, Central Visayas. I`m very proud of Pauline. She`s got a great voice. At par with the best divas in the world.
I remember OX--Seawind's original name. They played all the venues in Honolulu, sounded good outdoors and were equally as good in a jazz club. Mahalo nui!
Remember when the Seawind horn section was doing session work for almost everybody out there? Awesome band. I'm glad they were able to patch things up a few years back for the reunion tour. The concert in Cerritos, CA was amazing.
thank you for posting this video, it's the first time that I can see my favorite band "live". Even more sorry that I misse their reunion concert in LA 2007! They're still amazing. GBY
Who all has their most recent recording which is an Import? It's the reunion recording with remakes of their classic songs alone with new compositions. It's worth owning for Seawind fans.
You don't have Idea how grateful I am ! I have been looking this song for years ! this song took me back to my teen years in 1979 in my last high school year! This is a great Band !Thanks for this video !!!!!
How hot was Pauline?! I loved Seawind! We essentially made them in Detroit on my former radio station, WJZZ. Unfortunately, she broke up the band by leaving Bob Wilson for Jimmy Messina (Buffalo Springfield, Poco), as I've always heard.
Wow, wow, wow!!! Thank you so much for posting this. First time for me too!! One of the greatest bands on earth, with beautiful Singer Pauline Wilson. Got some more video stuff?
Back in those days, Jerry played a Calicchio Bb trumpet (S1 2) with a Bob Reeves 43S mouthpiece. For a number of years now, Jerry plays a Bach 37 Sterling Silver Bell trumpet and a Bach 3C mouthpiece.
I've known Jerry for many years. We both studied with Bill Adam at Indiana University. I didn't mention it, but there was a short period of time in the early 90s when Jerry played a Kanstul copy of a Calicchio 1S 2. However, he soon after endorsed the Bach Sterling Silver Bell trumpet, along with other IU/Adam students Charley Davis and Larry Hall. Actually, I am only assuming that he is still using that equipment. Nashville studio player Mike Haynes was playing the same trumpet.
love this music.

There was nothing as exciting as an OX (the band's first name) or a Seawind concert in Honolulu, Hawai'i in the mid-70s to early 80's.

I saw Seawind in concert with George Benson in Fresno, CA in the early 80's.
George almost did not get to perform because the crowd kept bringing Seawind back to the stage to keep going. It was AWESOME!!

Jerry Hey!
Hey, anybody know what equipment Jerry uses?
DancingSpiderman 3 years ago
Back in those days, Jerry played a Calicchio Bb trumpet (S1 2) with a Bob Reeves 43S mouthpiece. For a number of years now, Jerry plays a Bach 37 Sterling Silver Bell trumpet and a Bach 3C mouthpiece.

Wow, so for the recent past, Jerry has been using "standard off-the-shelf" trumpet and mouthpiece?
How did you come to know this info?
Thanx!

I've known Jerry for many years. We both studied with Bill Adam at Indiana University. I didn't mention it, but there was a short period of time in the early 90s when Jerry played a Kanstul copy of a Calicchio 1S 2. This is great first-hand networking, musteach40!
Yeah, I'd always had a feeling that Jerry, and prolly some of the other excellent practitioners, did use off-the-shelf equipment.
I tried to ask Jerry from his own website, but I didn't get a response. Thanks again! Enjoy the weekend!
