I'm currently doing a TAS on this game. To perform a double jump as early as possible you must jump right when he's about to fold his legs. To triple jump you need to jump right when he's gone as high as possible on the double jump (you can see that the behavior of the frames are changing when you're as high as possible on the double jump)
What a surprise... someone uploaded a TAS I've made -_-. If I recall, to get double / triple jump to work: you must tap jump button within 2 frames. If you're holding 3 frames or more, double / triple jump becomes disable.
Probably a turbo controller, or the fact that since the game is slowed down whilst they record, they can make it look like they're jumping really fast, or they could just be abusing a glitch.

You know what's fail. The EXP bars are ultra blurry on my PC but the PS3 attached to my P42G10 makes them MUCH clearer. :(
