It was a good car but I'd prefer the 99-00 Civic Si or Integra GSR for better handling and reliability. No beating the feal of that 2.5 though when the butterfly valves kick in. Fun car. The SVT Focus was the best SVT ever made though in my opinion. Focus was a handling machine that the Contour could never, ever match.

The only thing really bad about this car it that the suspension was a bit soft & the car liked to lean in hard turns. An easy fix though.

@bighead29058 thats the 97 i have a 99 with upgraded stage 2 clutch and a CAI easily pushing 210hp and still get over 25-30mpg lets see if it was a big ass 302 5.0L the engine would just weigh the car down and gimme like what 10mpg? haha and the engine in my car is amazing has 120,000 miles and it runs like new SVT does a great job at whatever they do

@ygt76 It's pretty much the same engine but with a little tweaking. SVT fuel injectors, throttle body, higher compression, etc. Though the SE engine is a great motor. My first Contour was an SE.

On the highway an SRT4 can't touch the CSVT. I've taken many of them down. Guess you can blame it on the drivers but whatever.

The only Contour that was worth a damn. The regualr Contours were fucking shit cars. I had a 99 Contour and the engine would sound like it would blow up if i went past 45mph. My friends 98 Contour engine just quit on him and it was only 3 years old that had less then 35 thousand miles on it.
