blingbling23, take your psuedo-intellectual musical snobbery and shove it. Nathaniel Rosen deservingly won the gold medal in 1978 because he is a truly gifted cellist. This is universally beautiful artistry and if you can't recognize it, your taste is not only questionable, but basely and mundane.
I can't stand Rosen's playing. Horrible tone, faulty intonation. I'm going back to hear Shafran, Rostropovich, Fournier, Starker, Rose!!! These were cellists!
Thank you for posting this. I studied with Mr. Rosen while I attended Manhattan. It was always a treat when he would play in my lesson and I still haven't met a cellist with better bow control and overall technical mastery. What a great display of his musicianship as well!! Thank You!!!

His playing is a bit out of tune. His technique is very good but he needs to refine his intonation.

omg I just studied with him at Summit Music Festival, he is amazing. I play with this accompanist usually at home.
