you are a complete amateur, you mixed all your bullshit playing parts up, and obscured the only part anybody gives a shit about, LENNON and McCartney playing guitars and singing... mainly Lennon is heard on this. A decent mix would be balanced and you obviously know nothing and no fucking clue as to how to mix music.
the BJ Kramer version has a slight musical re-write in the phrase, "you won't be bad to me," which improves the song, makes it richer musically; wonder if the Beatles did that or if the arranger in the BJK session did....
@themasterofmovies Not fake. It is the real deal but not fleshed out. Great early Mersey beat tune and has that early feel good quality the lads did so well.
@jimidee33 i dont believe that, they sound like electronic drums. I am a musician, i work really well with analog and digital audio. I can tell the difference
@themasterofmovies This is the original analog vocal and acoustic guitar demo mixed with today's digital drums. That's why the title says completed version. No one is trying to fake anyone out. I think you missed the point here.
As far as I can make out from the comments on Stevie's videos, the great majority of people absolutely love what he does, whilst a few poor souls don't. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, of course, but how weird that these few people have to be so obnoxious and insulting - that says it all, really, doesn't it??
Think about this; John thought this song wasn't good enough for the band to release. 99.99% of the band wish they could create a song like this. What a master of his art he was! It also helps to have as a motivator like Paul McCartney next to you!
The Beatles are the greatest band of all time. Period. Fuck the world if you don't believe that. Listen to this song and all of their songs. If it wasn't about lost love, longing for love or a message to make the world a better place, well then no one ever did it better. If fucking Mozart had put lyrics to his music, it would be the Beatels of his century. THAT is how great these guys were.
@AmyGrace1234 The reason you have never seen this song on a Beatles Lp is because John didn't think the song was strong enough of a tune to be released by The Beatles. Not ever going to record it for consumer consuption, The Beatles gave it to Chad & Jerremy to record.
It's a pretty nice reproduction, but I just had to let this out of my system. Considering the Beatles' music style during 1963-64 I don't think Ringo would make drum rolls for this one especially on the ending. Also the lack of the lead guitar improvs by George should have been considered, but for a production of this scale. I suppose you did a pretty fine job.
You should remake this and mix the drums in mono... It would sound much more authentic. The toms all panned out like that does not fit the feeling of the original recording. Just throw 1 dynamic mic up as an overhead and compress it a lil/ eq it to bring out the low end that overheads usually lack. Would be killer!
@fliederrix i don't know drums is fine in here, i'd like better bass because now it's sounds like emulated with some pre-processor playig with a simple guitar =)
@antonykean Hahaha - Ringo was a good drummer - the Beatles has their pick of the Liverpool bands when they chose Pete's replacementt and Ringo was the one they chose.
Good job! Well done in "beefing" up the sound. The Beatles had such a feel for melody. "Bad To Me" is a wonderful tune and you've made it 'whole" here.
Hi! I found the photos in the net. Found an article about an photographer, who made early photos of the Beatles which were never published before. Would find this article no more, it´s too long ago. Sorry, that I can´t give more informations.
The Dekotas were (are) a very tight band and they played excellent behind the voice of Billy J Kramer (not powerful but very much his own) and this song worked very well for them.
I've got my list of all the Beatles songs on Wikipedia and thanks to Youtube, I'm filling in the blanks of my listened to catalog. Thanks for post and sounds good!
This is a fantastic job of finishing Lennon's demo. It sounds just I imagined Lennon would have finished it. Perhaps you could try finishing some other Beatle demos that you can find here on YouTube: One and One Is Two (Macca), I'm In Love (Lennon), and You Know What To Do (George). This was such a pleasure to listen, I hope you'll do some more. I hate the thought of Beatle songs going unfinished. How about "That Means A Lot" and "Leave My Kitten Alone"? Hope to see new uploads. Hilts
Thank you very much for your friendly words. Would really be a nice idea to complete "I´m in love". A few weeks ago I tried to complete "Real life" (not by the Beatles but by John Lennon). It can be found on my channel or searching with "John Lennon real life (completed)".

This dosen't sound good, however this- The Beatles - Bad To Me (2:09) RARE ORIGINAL SONG - Does! Sorry but this is the beatles, you should have got it right before putting it up on here.
@fliederrix I understand, it just looses the feel of the song by putting other instruments on top in this way, I think if you listen to this version in brackets (The Beatles - Bad To Me (2;09) RARE ORIGINAL SONG) -, copy and paste it in to the search bar on youtube, comes up as top video. Thats got drums on etc and has a good feel and sound. Only thing I can't hear on the original is bass so obviously everyone here hasnt heard this Beatles version as it is more than just guitar and vocal...
@n916 give the guy a break, imo. Sure this version doesn't sound particularly great because of the drums, bass, and guitars; but it doesn't sound horrible. The only problem I have with it is that the voice doesn't sound as clear and leveled with the rest of the song. The drum and bass seem to drown out the voice a bit. The bass is also a bit too loud and sloppy, while the drums don't have that particular Beatle sound that Ringo created, which was a large part of their success as a band.
@n916 also: The Beatles - Bad To Me (2:09) RARE ORIGINAL SONG is a very good version of this song, as it has a drum pattern that sounds more similar to Ringo's style, with a bass that doesn't sound sloppy and just get in the way. Although, I have problems with that version too. It's too quiet. The voice is very low and sounds choppy at times. It's almost so low that you can hardly hear the actual lyrics and barely make out the notes in his voice. So they both have problems.

Is this Paul and Ringo from today who filled the demo? I know it's John's 1963 demo but the rest of the music is today. I'm just wondering if it's Paul and Ringo from the 2000's who finished off the song?
This is a fantastic job of finishing Lennon's demo. It sounds just I imagined Lennon would have finished it. Perhaps you could try finishing some other Beatle demos that you can find here on YouTube: One and One Is Two (Macca), I'm In Love (Lennon), and You Know What To Do (George). Great, finally the song gets the treatment it deserved rather than having to listen to Billy J Kramer. Could I ask what guitar you recorded the lead with?
The person to most admire in The Beatles to me is Paul. Great guy, very good to people, VERY good to his children, VERY good to Linda for all those years. Wonderful, beautiful, melodic songs. He's good to the annoying press. Talks to them in a respectable way. He's just lovely, all the way around. He's my favorite artist ever :)
You need to loop it to get another chorus and a Rickenbacker guitar lead. I like your version best of the ones I have heard so far. The rhythm guitar is very good.
You can hear George singing and playing on the originasl demo so all this needs is for Paul and Ringo to add electric bass and drums. They could still do it if they wanted to! Hope you've inspired them to do so,
It´s originally only a demo-version (guitar and voice by John Lennon). It never appeared on a Beatles-Album. The additions (drums, bass..) are not original.
Great job. You really captured the feel of the time. Personally, I would have left out the crash cymbal at the beginning of the verse that follows the bridge but that's extreme nit-picking. Really cool McCartneyesque bass line - how it follows the melody. Please do more!
Thank you very much for your friendly comment. I tried to get a sound like the early Beatles. Although the result is surely not perfect, it was fun doing it. It would be also fun to do some more, unfortunately it costs a lot of time.
cool i like what you did to this demo its sounds like a beatles backing but the druming does not sound like real drums to me its fine any way put real duum on this and make it rock!! i down loaded this and put it on cd the beatles rule!! i like stuff like this one day maybe this will come out with paul and ringo adding music to it that wood be grate
This is a home recording, the original demo (which you can find here on youtube) is just John and a guitar. Everything else on this version was added by someone else...but it's still a great version.
Outstanding Jobs Sir. It's a shame we can't raise the quality of Lennon's voice a bit on the demo. Since it's obvious his demo was double tracked, I always wondered if it was a quick home recording or actually done at Abbey Road (In which case a better copy must exist somewhere)
I doubt it's a home recording - fame had barely hit them at this point. Home recording stuff would've cost a lot then so... I'm pretty sure it's a studio recording
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
nah, the quality is too bad for studio recording (even for 60s studio recording). Perhaps, of course, they were just doing it for fun, without proper set-up. But I think those reel-to-reel tape decks were already widespread those days, so home recording was definitely possible. For example, there's a version of "If I fell" recorded by John at home, just a year ahead.

There's a song called "this diamond ring" that is so similar to this one ....

Nice drum addition its not ringo of course but whoever revised the song , good job i would have done the same ..cheers

That can't be Ringo on drums.maybe it's Paul just backing John's vocal.Either way it's a perfect pop song.

is this on an album of some sort ? or a single?
nightcrawler511 2 years ago
It´s originally only a demo-version (guitar and voice by John Lennon). It never appeared on a Beatles-Album. The additions (drums, bass..) are not original.
fliederrix 2 years ago
nvr became a single either right?
nightcrawler511 2 years ago
Billy J. Kramer recorded a single of this song. The Beatles never, there´s only the Demo-recording by voice and guitar of John Lennon.

Thank god this didn't pass john and paul's "bullshit detectors"

cool idea to finish this, great job, except I agree w/Douglas. The crash sounds out of place, never heard Pete or Ringo use it like that.
Ribzypunk 2 years ago
nicework...but you should made a better work on thre drum style. it coulb be more ringo's style, i think. anyway, 5 stars.

Great job. You really captured the feel of the time. Personally, I would have left out the crash cymbal at the beginning of the verse that follows the bridge but that's extreme nit-picking. Really cool McCartneyesque bass line - how it follows the melody. Please do more!

Aww man. I wish I could put this in my Ipod. It rocks! Do you know where I can download this song?

This is a fantastic job of finishing Lennon's demo. It sounds just I imagined Lennon would have finished it. Perhaps you could try finishing some other Beatle demos that you can find here on YouTube: One and One Is Two (Macca), I'm In Love (Lennon), and You Know What To Do (George). This was such a pleasure to listen, I hope you'll do some more. I hate the thought of Beatle songs going unfinished. How about "That Means A Lot" and "Leave My Kitten Alone"? Hope to see new uploads.

Its good. I have a slightly different version of this ie someone elses overdubs, though the same demo.
fuckoffucunt 2 years ago
This is a home recording, the original demo (which you can find here on youtube) is just John and a guitar. Everything else on this version was added by someone else...but it's still a great version.
Cheers, cesarr

Yes, you´re completely right. I commented the making of this version on this side, right above.

The demo was recorded on May 31, 1963. Unfortunately the didn´t finished it.
fliederrix 2 years ago
Thankyou!!! =)
Yes I think too, that it's so sad that they don't finished it, becouse is really nice!!! =)

Outstanding Jobs Sir. It's a shame we can't raise the quality of Lennon's voice a bit on the demo. Since it's obvious his demo was double tracked, I always wondered if it was a quick home recording or actually done at Abbey Road (In which case a better copy must exist somewhere)
bibbler227 2 years ago
I doubt it's a home recording - fame had barely hit them at this point. Home recording stuff would've cost a lot then so... I'm pretty sure it's a studio recording

This comment has received too many negative votes show
nah, the quality is too bad for studio recording (even for 60s studio recording). Perhaps, of course, they were just doing it for fun, without proper set-up. But I think those reel-to-reel tape decks were already widespread those days, so home recording was definitely possible. For example, there's a version of "If I fell" recorded by John at home, just a year ahead.

Lovely!
One of my fave songs - I am an avid Beatles fan - and was bought up on 60s beat music - though (dare I say it?)
I prefer the Kramer version. I think because it's slightly faster and in a different (higher) key.
If you did all the finishing touches to the song, BRAVO! Very easy on the ears :) very professional.
5*

is the beatles singing?
camerooniepooniepoo 2 years ago
It´s the original demo tape (voice of John Lennon and guitar), added by bass, guitar and drums (not original).
