  • Jesus disapproved of the greedy property owners too, so it makes sense.

  • This man has a good idea. Cultivation of space for community...I love it.

  • i'm not religious personally but love what this guy has to say. the support of any community space that has, as he's saying, volunteers - kitchens - and the like, will be a welcome piece of help for OWS. Good luck you guys!

  • Sanctuary offered, in the old sense of the word. :) I expect the Unitarians and United Church of Christ to step up as well. It fits with their theologies to support social justice.

  • one of the Churches, sent an email said "we did not invite those people here" and several people, were arrested.Trinty was the one that sent that email.

  • I called Trinty this morning and said that this movement address disspair with in our communities and that the church could not turn their backs and they were very concerned. lets hope they listen to this guy as well.

  • A nice thought and perhaps a nice try, but I think it will not work. The churches in America, particularly the Evangelicals and the Catholic churches are owned and controlled by the very wealthy, top 1%, the same people who own our government. They are not going to do anything to help the 99%. Example, that “father” guy on Fox news, against anything to do with working people. I hope you can prove me wrong.

  • @dalecs47

Since a Catholic and a Methodist Bishop openly supported the spring protests in Madison within 24 hours of their start you are obviously wrong.

  • @dalecs47 can't say i can prove you wrong. what i can say is that most Evangelicals, like myself, are conservatives who work for a living. chances are that we would not approve of these people trying to wreck the capitalist structure that gets us out of bed each day to work for a purpose. their protest will not affect "greed", it is going to be with us no matter what. enact change by living the right way.

  • @allaboutdatGDA They should exact change by living the “right way”? Ok, fair enough. Sounds like you work hard, have a reasonably good job and doing well enough. Suppose in order to increase profits Wall Mart orders your company to lay off all American workers and relocate business activities in China. A year from now you have no money, you lose your home, pension, everything. There are no replacement jobs in your area. What then?

  • @dalecs47 I guess at that point I have to live on welfare, blame big business and shit in the park with everybody else like me who doesn't want to look for another dickhead job like working at walmart. those are jobs, nobody grows up saying they want to work at walmart. you grow up working at a job to eventually work in a career. the point is you keep looking for work.

  • @allaboutdatGDA Obviously it has not happened to you, I hope that it never does. Having your whole life destroyed so that the owners of some large corporation can get even richer is a terrible experience and no matter how hard you try at living right, it will make no difference. The point of my original comment was that ultimately churches will not help the O.W.S. cause because religion is mostly owned by the 1% who use it to fool people into believing the corporatist lies. Good luck.

  • Yep. Jesus didn't like the moneychangers, either.

  • @purpurpledog8 I doubt these people care about the church of christ.

more likely they want to turn the church into a soup kitchen or a mosque. by force of course because war is peace. amirite?
