Hi postal brothers and sisters

The reason why flat volume is down is because they hold mail on purpose so they can get there numbers. The other day the Fss machine sorted my flats for my rt. I could fit them all in my hand. I've been in the po more than enough years to see that the mail is never that light. When the fall comes and the mail mysteries appears, they'll have to adjust the routes again. After they yell at you , complaining that you can't make it back on time. Ever day I hade this

From what I'm hearing this thing is a nightmare in every office they put it in. But typical postal service, they spent the money on it so they're just gonna shove it down our throats. I've heard stories of carriers bringing back over 200 missequenced flats at the end of the day. If customers complain just tell them to direct their anger to the supervisor, thats what I plan to do.

@SuperNaco85 hey supernaco!my flat volume on my route has actually gone down.i have days were i might have 5 flats for the entire relay.that's fucking impossible!the mail volume is down but not that much.i think theyre curtailing to make the numbers look great and you carry aux in addition to your route and than when they release the mail that they curtailed everyone will be working overtime and they won't know why.we are all DOOMED.

One thing is certain, every machine in the postal system is impressive in the beginning. After a few years of wear and tear machines have down time. Clerks on most machines were scheme qualified (persons who had memorize entire zip codes) .These employees would sort entire zip codes by reading the address only. In case of emergencies you had these employees as back ups. Now these machines are run by mail handlers who are not scheme qualified. This machine will break down sooner or later.

I've had the oportunity to visit many plants and for the most part "the workers" do bus ttheir tail while management,,, and I'll just have to stop in agreement with some of wha i've read. As an employee for many years I am appalled at how ridiculous the USPS is ran and the demands put on their employees. I do thank God for unions today. It would be like the sweatshops of the early 1900's if not for some type of protection. I have seen about 5 good managers out of the past 25 come through our station. Guess what? They were reassigned into oblivion. DPS flats will just be more headaches and managment fuel to beat down employees with their DOIS lunacy.

I spent time working in a Postal Distribution center in West Palm Beach as a contractor for Lockheed Martin on one of these systems.

The original poster is correct. The Postal worker force is treated poorly with respect to working hours. It's actually an accepted trait of Postal workers that they cannot maintain relationships outside of the workplace due to their hours.

I share the same point of view as most about how inadequately the PO is run, BUT I think that you will be quite surprised about how well the FSS mail is doing. Yes, I get on average an inch or 2 of errors in my DPS daily, but I have never had more than 2 or 3 errors in my FSS except one time with the machine had a problem with one mailing. The biggest problem is it destroys some pieces and I do not see that ever stopping unless they do away with it.

Same theory as 100 but this takes human factor out even more and this does DPS.

From what I have read the FSS system is an extremely complicated piece of machinery. There is NO way the current USPS pool of technicians will be able to maintain or trouble shoot the FSS system.I worked as a floating engineer for the USPS(quit in 2006). I watched in disbelief as 3 technicians fumbled around for 5 hours trying to fix a lable printer. They never got it to work and left it to the next tour to figure out.

..Continued from last post. The mail edges are sorted to the right and many of us think edges to the left would work much better. The trays do not easily fit on the truck ledge and slide around. Many workable problems but I will say hardly any errors. Business routes are having the most problems adjusting. We are the first office to have it and they told us they wanted us to give them help on what the best ways were to make this work efficiently. Do you think they are listening?? NOT!!

We now have FSS in our office. I think after the adjustment period everyone will like it. Who doesn't want to spend LESS time in the office. Many things are going to change. We are probably going to lose 8-10 routes of the 50+ we now have. Most routes will have something added to them. Our starting times are being changed to a later starting time. Problems I see only after a few weeks of experience with it are, the trays are very hard to work out of. Continued next post...

And zero tolerance my ass. If a worker sexually harasses another worker, he or she is suspended at the least. If a SUPERVISOR sexually harasses a worker, he is NOT suspended, but MOVED TO ANOTHER AO OR PROCESSING PLANT. Zero Tolerance only applies to workers. With bosses, mgmt DOES NOT get rid of the problem, they MOVE the problem.

Your wrong about that. The amount of missorted mail in the dps is terrible think what its going to be like with fss not to mention you still have to deal with risidual mail.Unless you recycle that residual mail and get rid of the hot case I think I will still be dillydallying in the office.

Where are the newspapers, advos, over-sized pieces, thin flimsy catalogs(bed bath and beyond), the thick oprah mags? Can't wait to see the nightmares that postal mismanagement didn't predict from this waste of money. There will be overtime nearly everyday from having to have extra bundles and not being able to curtail mail. What happens on the day after a holiday on a park and loop route when you have 5 ft of flats for one loop? Crazy/stupid if you ask me.
