wow! my sisters and i are planning to fly to bangkok this march to watch ss4 and i am also planning to buy this camera. thanks for giving me an idea on how it works as a video tool... ;)
I own the f550exr the camera doesnt focus right in dimmy lit enviroments zooming in or moving like that even during outside in the daytime i recommend trying the fuji hs20exr.

To be honest, I feel that center focus isn't very useful in most situations.
For me personally, I take both pictures and videos, so at most outdoor events and indoor concerts, it makes it quite difficult to use center focus as I cannot predict their next movements... so center focus isn't very applicable. (need auto! or manual control)
However, I do agree that it seem to be the only solution for video capturing with F550EXR.

Try shooting video in P mode, with Movie Autofocus set to Center.
