  • This is fascinating.. I know someone who uses 7% iodine for their skin problems... but it is now illegal to sell 7% in the US

  • Fantasy. Trucks Can't do barrel roles. Do not attempt.

  • So many nerds. Its a bully's paradise. lol

  • @Halick I wish I new

  • why is this in the kipkay playlist?

  • This old guy is a wiz. I would like to see some more videos with him in them

  • 3:55 "You could use laundry bleach instead"

Dumbass, mixing hydrochloric acid and bleach makes toxic chlorine gas. Enjoy dying.

  • @lAMNOTGOOMBA he never said to mix hydrochloric acid and bleach..

  • You can't make iodine, it's an element. Dah'a.

  • @iasedu Um, duh? That's why the main ingredient is "Potassium IODIDE", KI. The rest of the steps are to remove the potassium.

  • @louiswins I was just trolling, being picky on the word "make" .. Instead of like "isolate" or "separate".

  • makemagazine should do more chemistry projects

  • The perfect video to send to all your meth-dealing friends.

  • why isn't "uh" in the tags???

  • Where can you find technical grade potassium iodide at a reasonable price ?

In other words , say you wanted to buy a kilogram , and not get ripped off .

  • Skip to 2:05 for the actual procedure.

  • @12qwillemall5321 it's because then if you dehydrate it (make it into a powder form) then you can detonate stuff, with a feather or you can mix it and dilute it to make nytro glycerin so then it's less sensitive

  • @MrEthan177 can't you react it with ammonia to make nitro triiodide? is that dehydrating? I have so much to learn.

  • @omichron420 honestly i don't know i started researching nitroglycerin awhile ago because i was reading an XKCD comic (804 if you are interested) and then i started to watch a bunch of videos and stuff like that and then i ended up here..... and then some other videos explained what you were asking but that was on my I Pod and i don't feel like looking for the video's

  • STICK IT TO THE MAN!

  • Why make it? what's the purpose???

  • But isn't that illegal?

  • @w4rr10r11 no

  • @w4rr10r11 dunno. Breathing will be illegal if we don't fight back against government.

  • I left after I noticed KipKay wasn't here.

  • PLEASE TEACH US PLUTONIUM!!!!!

  • OMG! Table salt is poisonous!? I have been lied to my whole life!

  • Administration, not agency.

  • where is kipkay?!!!

  • @3DGreenAss i think that he don't want to be on the dda list and pay

  • potassium iodide: "it's about as poisonous as tablesalt."

  • @shinigamidestroyer It is actually used to iodize table salt.

  • Next we'll see kipkay snorting crack.

  • I love how this guy has balls enough to tell the feds to fuck off. Somebody has to do it.

  • ....

  • Next weekend project: How to make a dirty bomb.

  • If you cannot get 'crystal iodine' without filling out a form, then America is FUCKED.

  • Fuck the FED

  • lol.The crystals soon oxidise and turn to shit though..

  • he looks like paul watson on whale wars

  • Can u use this as a household cleaning solution? Is it a good idea to make this solution to have in a home Emergency kit?

  • I-O-DINE

as in dine or going to a diner

    not dean

  • where the fuck is kipkay?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

  • @MrUberuaga thats what i said

  • my my... passing the DA restrictions can get you arrested right??

  • heey the like and dislike bar looks like a BLUNT ;)

  • This guy is stupid.

  • WHERE'S KIP KAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!! lol tantrum!

  • 52 people have a Goiter now...

  • 52 people work for the DEA

  • Check out this white boy with the white beard and everything, and the white coat, teaching us how to break the law and all. :)

  • @SuperCheezyGuy shut up.......it's not illegal. It's only illlegal by buying it without filling out the form. You're allowed to make it still

  • @superchezzyguy. Who the fuck cares hes showing you how to make something usefull not something dangerous

  • @docatomics

dude chill your balls a youtubers name doesnt HAVE to have something to do with his job or personality! and I was just kidding! SHEESH! Concerned troll is concerned!

  • is he/she a girl or a boy?

  • @TheSexyTelemarketer ...a real telemarketer would need to ask or care to know;

~so your a NSA shill contractor, now eyh ?

=well if annoyence is your trip, then so be it as you go to work on yourself

  • i like how bob the expert in this chemisty has got his safty glasses... on top of his head not on his eyes... makes me feel safer about doing this

  • but what if your wife was secretly working in th DEA?

  • The DEA would be peeing their panties if they see this

  • Can I use this to make nitrogen triiodide?

  • it would be nice if we could get iodine from household supplies

  • WE WANT KIPKAY

  • I like how angry he sounded when talking about the DEA.

  • Hes a complete boss

  • Hahahaha. And the DEA came by later to take Santa away.... LOL

  • LOL GOGGLES ARE FOR YOUR EYES SILLY GOOSE

  • If you plan to try this, don't use household bleach. While it will oxidize the iodide to iodine, it will also oxidize the hydrochloric acid to chlorine gas (which we all know is quite toxic)

  • shows how effective the DEA is

  • I think we all need a dose of this today.

  • Wow! Now I can make homemade tincture of iodine if I should ever need some. (LOL)

  • Next Weekend Project : How to make Cocaine

  • Why does it sound like Kipkay is narrating?

  • Learn the Truth about potassium iodine. Albert von Szent-Györgyi who got the noble prize for discovering vitamin C took 1 gram of Potassium Iodide a day minimum. Szent-Györgyi died at 93 years old!

  • @kyler565 Daily dose of KI needed for proper function of thyroid is less than two miligrams. One gram a day will quickly destroy your thyroid, even those 130mg tablets used if nuclear fallout occurs should be used for a maximum of two weeks, which applies only for people under 40, older people have higher probability of thyroid damage due to KI overdose than due to radiation-related cancer. And it works by fully saturating the thyroid with stable KI, preventing radioactive iodine intake.

  • The Potassium Iodine in the begining is the stuff for anti-radiation use, not the end product after hcl and h202

  • whats the actual forumula to make this well balanced and safely

  • @InvestigateTheLies I would also like to know what the exact measurements are.

  • @MusicTewns you can count that yourself... wiki should contain all you need...

  • you need to raise youg Glutatione levels to protect yourself form radiation. how? gshusa dot c0com works really well.

  • Taking notes. I love science!!

  • Dutch now its Plutonium the iodine probably will give you only two to three weeks longer to live the potassium iodine is for the iodine 131 radioactivity that's all now all the workers walked away it now to dangerous for anyone to be there holy crap!

  • hahaha!!! And This Is What Captain Paul Watson Did... Before He Went To Become A Captain To Stop Whale Fishing... hahahaha A Chemist... Who Would Have Known? haha that's fucking halarious

  • You can filter the iodine off or heat up the solution in a beaker and place a round bottomed flask containing cold water over the the mouth of the beaker and pure, solid iodine will sublimate onto the flask and can then be scraped off onto filter paper to dry it. I bet McGiver would have given his eye teeth for that book though! LOL.

  • Isn't iodine poisonous?

  • I bought a couple ounces of iodine from unitednuclear. I now used it to make eleventy billion tons of meth.

  • hmm did not know Jim Gaffigan was into science

  • Damn the DEA for not allowing me to buy cold medicine in my usual 5 year bulk.

  • Next Weekend project: How To Make Crystal Meth

  • @Tubaflubiscool LOL! Your bad! ;-)

  • @Tubaflubiscool and the one after that: How to make depleted uranium artillery shells

  • @Tubaflubiscool wo youyr a fucking retard iodine is not used for meth

  • @Tubaflubiscool Jesus fucking Christ you're an idiot. You see a chemistry set and the first fucking retard thought that comes to your mind is "HO MUH GUD DATS A METH LUB."

  • @Boogers32150 Dumb Fuck it's a joke now go back to your inbred family and eat some gritz with your 3 teeth

  • @Tubaflubiscool Ive got 3 ways to make crystal meth

  • 45 DEA agents watched this video.

  • i got a dosie for you how do you make crystall meth

  • Iodeen? I-OH-DINE.

  • @JoesEpicAdventures well i dont know how you pronounce things but I think most people say chlorine like cloreen.

  • @smelyspartan What he made was medical Iodine, which is almost always pronounced I-Oh-Dine. It is only ever pronounced I-Oh-Deen, when talking about the raw element Iodine in chemistry, and even that isn't really common.

  • I could stay and watch kipkay videous all day

  • @raulserban27 kipkay steaks ideas

  • yes the old guy is married, his wife is mrs santa claus

  • Thumbs up if the old dude looks like Santa!!!

  • wheres kipkay?

  • NurdRage?

  • Doesn't have to be HCl though, any strong acid will do as long as the none of the metathesis products interfere with the process. Would I be correct in assuming H2SO4 will work fine?

  • @cnidoblast yes it should work fine

  • @agrippaviar yeah H2SO4 works but it makes things more complicated cuz H2SO4 can act as the oxidiser too. I added conc. Everytime I used it I smelled H2S.

  • thumbs up if you saw mopad dude from system in the backround in the first few seconds!!!

  • why using WERBUNG inside of the video ?

  • @kimberliilarraza97 yeah especially if your interested in what you can make with Iodine if you know what i mean!!

  • What kind of chemist does not wear goggles while pouring conc. HCl !?!

  • Sorry, he was actually wearing them... on his forehead. lol

  • Dr. Bob DeMaria is discussing IODINE

  • i love this and why am i only now subscribing

  • table salt? he also made cokea cola

  • Doing your own meth lab powered by Radioshack

  • bhar me jao

  • is this the same as polarpure™ ??????

  • i want kipkay!!!!! boo this guy!

  • Yay for getting around the DEA! Let's make meth next!

  • burn in hell

  • Br eaking

    Ba d

  • Heisenberg of youe tube ??

  • what is the reaction taking place here

  • OMG! Santa is real!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @dragoninfire123 its john hammond jerk!

  • Iodeen. lol

  • "Use readily items"

    "This stuff is Potassium Iodine"

Gave up there, I can't get my hands on that x_x

  • @narutofan190249 You can easily buy it online. Unless you can't do this.

  • @narutofan190249 You can easily get potassium iodide from ebay for cheap. I got a 2 oz cup of it for like $12.

  • @narutofan190249 He said it's an unrestricted chemical. So why can't you get your hands on that? I am sure in a less than a minute I could find multiple places to buy it.

  • ya, thanks bob

  • talking alot. just get to the point

  • say uh one more time hobo!!!

  • 0:55 Will it blend!

  • next weekend project: how ro make crack

  • he souds a little like timmy from whitest kids u'know.

  • It's powered by RadioShack. Where does RadioShack come in there?

  • Soy Sauce!

  • this is interesting..do the amounts matter? does anyone know the precise measurements?

  • COPY CET OF KIPKAY

  • Just mix tincture of iodine with household amonia and wait for the solution to evaporate. What's left will be Nitrogen TriIodide. I haven't done this, just a hunch. But if someone else wants to try, go ahead. Just be careful, as once the Nitrogen TriIodide has dried completely, it is a high explosive more sensitive than Nitroglycerin. And it can be set off by a fly landing on it.

  • @BenHutchinson1 XD anti-fly powder fly: hmm... whats this...food? imma land on it ya-KABOOM!

  • Tincture of Iodine (simply iodine disolved in water, and PERFECTLY LEGAL in all cases and no paper work or suspicious cops) is already a good start (since you need it in water in the first place). And then just add some household amonia (not true "ammonia" which is a gas, but rather is actually amonia disolved in water which spontaneously reacts to make amonium hydroxide which is what is needed). Household amonia = amonium hydroxide.

  • @BenHutchinson1 Iodine is not solutble in water

  • @jody4403363881

It is soluble, and its solution in water is called Tinksure of Iodine (not sure how to spell Tinksure though).

  • @BenHutchinson1 Tincture has Iodine suspended in water with an alkalai salt allowing the iodine to disolve. You can have a bunch of iodine sitting in water. Drop in the tiniest amount of, for example, sodium iodide. The iodine will disolve, then. Most tinctures in my experience have had alcohol, too. Which iodine is soluable. I have handled iodine, personally, along with most other halogens. If you ever do, wear gloves. This stuff sublimes and leaves brownish red stains on contact (skin). Cheers

  • @jody4403363881

Does it have to be an iodide, or can it be sodium chloride?

  • @BenHutchinson1

    iodide= iodine  chloride= chlorine

  • @BenHutchinson1 I wonder if it would be a mitigating factor. I suspect you would still need to have a little KI or NaI to start with. I would bet that a little salt would help. But, this is all conjecture. I could be comepley wrong. Iodine is soluble in alcohol, too. And, that is one trick for getting it into suspension. Just a little bit of iodide salt lets the iodine go right in. PVP is present in a lot of iodine solutions, too. I2 vapor is very pretty. But, get it on skin and stains.

  • @BenHutchinson1 tincture

  • @jody4403363881 You have never really handled Iodine, have you?

  • Compared to HCl acid, how bad is HI acid?

  • @BenHutchinson1 It is stronger. Stinks. A lot of them do. Sulfuric is the common acid that is the tough guy. Nitric acid is some real mean stuff. Chromic acid is bad news. It's also toxic to the enviroment. (remember Erin Brockovich?) The stuff on the other side of the pH spectrum is the stuff that really is nuts. Sodium hydroxide, aka lye, will destroy proteins and render fat to soap and glycerin. No matter what, wear good eye protection and chemical resistant gloves. Be careful! Have fun :)

  • @MarcusAgrippa7777 Alchemist or mage? ;-)

explosives and illicit drugs aside iodine is quite valuable medically. It's considered old school, but I like to have a little in my first aid kit! Like to keep some gentian violet , too. :) It's good for what ails ya!

  • @jody4403363881 but alchemy and mage/herbalist are two old skills that were givin a bad rap- if it wasnt for alchemy - we wouldnt have chemistry as we know it- and many natural herbs are being used in in medicines and pharamsuiticals

  • @DJelectfire Absolutely. What concerns me is the people that just go play lab time without doing the 'legwork' (more like finger walking.) There is a great deal of information on the net. There are colleges that will teach you organic chemistry for free, online. That's some tough stuff (imho) and they will teach it for free! A lot of people hurt, or get hurt, all because they wouldn't read a little bit. And, that also includes me. As said in other posts I worked with pyrotechnics. What I Didn't

  • @DJelectfire What I didn't say is I got my start before I was 12. I learned a lot of stuff that was already know. For example, certain chemicals and elements burst into flame or explode, all by themselves, when mixed. Sometimes it is not instant. I was ramming gerbs one day, and they all started firing all by themselves. About made me crap and almost set the garage on fire. I got burnt with finely divided Mg and an oxidizer. That was horrible. I could have skipped a lot of that if I had read mre

  • @DJelectfire Roger Bacon r0x0rd!

  • eeyy you are not kipkay

  • tweakers approve of this video

  • @bailey2829 'tweakers' are probably too busy running in circles or cleaning their houses 10,000 times a night to watch the video. lol

  • Time for nitrogen triiodide!

  • @AustralianPyromaniac Careful! You know how many fingers will dissapear if you told them how to make it? Hide the ammonia. lol. (Seriously, folks, this stuff will blow up if a fly lands on it.) Do they mess with you much in Australia when ya blow stuff up? In the US they have gotten pretty strict on stuff since that entire Ruby Ridge thing, and so on. I used to assist some pyro shows (was assisting a fed. licensed pyro) but these days I count myself lucky to still have all 10 fingers :D

  • The reason is because when you add iodine with red phosporus you get hydriotic acid wich can reduce psudoephedrine to methamphetamine!

  • @MarcusAgrippa7777 technically, no. But, you are correct. Pseudoephedrine bonds with iodine and forms iodoephedrine. The iodoephedrine is stripped of an I and hydrogenated. The phosphorus recycles the iodine back to hydriodic acid. But, simply adding iodine to phosphorus will not create hydriodic acid. You either have to add the I2 and the P4 to water to make the HI, or you can actually create the needed water by stripping the HO off of the beta(?) carbon of the pseudoephedrine. continued-->

  • @MarcusAgrippa7777 Simply combining phosphorus with iodine will, with heat, create phosphorus tri-iodine. Persons wanting to do something against the law will always find a way. They are only punishing those that are law abiding by prohibiting chemicals. You would think, that if they indeed wanted to stop people from doing that, they would allow the free flow of chemicals and pick them off when they are painfully obvious. Weird, huh?

  • Just fill out the paperwork you moron! Forget this HCl crap. I ain't messin with acids.

  • @BenHutchinson1 Is there paperwork? I thought there wasn't any for small amounts. Anyway, Iodine when in contact with skin, or the vapor is inhaled, tends to magically turn into hydriodic acid. And, that is HCl acid's big ugly mean brother. I like the color purple it turns when in strong vapor form. But, it's safest when put in an ampule. lol. I think the halogens are very interesting. But, flourine is very poisonous, Chlorine is green (and worse than HCl!) bromine means 'stench' in Greek. lol

  • @jody4403363881 florine is actually the most corroisive elemebt that exists- it will literally will burn glass... if glass is held in a stream of pure flourine (in a closed envrioment - of course) the glass will burn- I am not sure how this reaction works but it does...

  • @DJelectfire Not sure how it works either. Flourine makes an interesting oxidizer. I want to say that it is the most electronegative element. But, I'm very tired (insomnia :-\ lucky me) and just don't remember. I had some hydroflouric acid at one time. It was stored with some other chemicals. The elements had aparently heated it to the point of evaporation and some escaped the plastic bottle it was in. As you know HF eats glass, and that is exactly what the vapor did. I had beautifully frosted

  • @DJelectfire frosted glass :) If you want to see something really cool, check out a hydrogen and flourine torch. It's extremely hot. But, I'm not certain what you can do with it. HF is some bad stuff. Although I think it is listed as a strong acid (fully ionizes) Don't remember it being too bad as far as corrosivity. It's salts are poisonous. Wanna see some bad stuff? sulfuric acid and strong peroxide is called pirannah solution. Eats just about anything. Good for cleaning glass.

  • what else can they teach little old me //....//

  • Substitute sulfuric acid ;-)

Get ready for some Iodine vapor.

Hey, what is up with the pronounciation? "I-o-DEEN?!"

Wouldn't his starting reagent be Potassium I-o-DEED? Haha.

  • @jody4403363881 I was wondering the same thing!
