the problem with the album of this calibur is not rakim, it's the fact that this is an grown man's rap album. is not about ballin or how to jock his style it is introspective, it is about consequences to the street life, autobiographic, and about lost. it gives an homage to true hip hop in one of the songs that talks about music not radio rotation. which alot of this generation has never lived hip hop they have only been the beneficiary of it. it also has real music. unheard of today! amen rakim

Sure it was 10 years after, but in my opinion, I give credit for Ra; for he did his thing independently and said no thanks to Dre!!! come'on son!! you can't squash this album and call it Trash!!!! I gave it a solid 7 outta 10..Lyrically he still spitting dope shit, and as far as the beats....well, there not the greatest but there not the worst we've heard.

Listen Im a producer and the production and its value is spot on. What happens is that the people that consume Hip-Hop have been raised listening to garbage so all they know is trash and all they like is garbage and of course doing something with the Roots sounds great , but it is easier said than done and we are not even talking about contractual obligations and potential conflicts when trying to work with different artists from differebt labes. Nice fuckin Album that's all i have to say...

2 B honest, I'm not impressed with the production on this LP. I think The Alchemist, Dj Premier & Pete Rock's productions are better suited 2 Rakim. Even the production that supports Master Ace would work well with Raa, even more ambitious a track with The Roots would have been sublime. A live instrumental likened 2 " Know The Ledge" & "Don't Sweat The Technique". He should've had like Black Thought, Masta Ace, KRS1, Lauryn Hill, & Q Tip featuring on this album, siiiigghh ! a fella can dream.
