  • i dont like this elp stuff...but hell yes its a great version!

  • Hey! Can ya push h.r. Giger into the orchestra pit for me too? The one with the orphic egg t- shirt on!

  • rockinroll

  • too bad this version is not in 9/8 like the original, this version RYTHM sucks

  • Does anyone else hear the boss battle music from Final Fantasy VII in this? Listen closely, they're very similar.

  • That drumming made me cum in my pants.

  • Dave Brubeck himself, enjoyed a lot the ELP version. He always was and still is an open-minded person.Because of it,Brubeck is still alive and playing in the height of his 91 years of age.

  • great musicianship this song is great too, thanks to Brubeck

  • great musicianship

  • Was this not just called Rondo when The Nice did it????

Still `kin brilliant either way :)

  • this is so good!!!

  • Psychedelic !!!

  • knife to the keyboard! awesome!

  • @ghylind

Carl Palmer is one of the greatest drummers in rock history. I'm pretty sure he's good enough to play in 9/8.

  • @ThatYesGuy he can play also in 32840283/64

  • Weird. I watch the video and I can almost smell the pot smoke.

  • why did they change the song to 4/4? i think it sounds kind of whack in 4/4...

  • I always thought Keith's L-100 would catch on fire whenever he did this to it.

  • My favorite band covering my favorite tune... can you ask for more in life?

  • I only vaguely remember that they'd done this, but comes as no surprise. I always thought I heard some Brubeck in Emerson's playing!! ;)

  • Excellent!! Lemmy's knive contributing to a Brubeck tune!!

  • what's up with all the fucked up videos? youtube purposely munging them?

  • if this is the isle of wight I was there but disappointed with the debut as elp didnt have the finesse of the nice. also, I think they played the week before at van dykes club plymouth.

  • Bet Dave brubeck never smoked a joint in his life.

    neosonic 2 months ago

    Actually he prefered Heroin

  • coming from a Jazz background, I fuliy understand, appreciate and encourage re-invention and interpretation, but these guys walked into the Louvre, pulled out their Sharpie and drew a moustache on the Mona Lisa -- oy vey, already!

  • This is shite.

  • This is as tight as a ducks arse could be in 1970!!!!!!!!

  • its music....and i enjoyed it.

  • this is actually there second concert

  • Kieth Emerson is a maniac!!!

  • The problem is these peeps are jazz snobs. i happen to LOVE jazz and am very educated regarding all forms of music.I find jazz purists to be pretentious, and rude pisswads.

Also they are not trustworthy. They will f*ck you, your mom, and your sister if you let them. My opinion. Sure this version was a little left field and different, but thats what happens when your a jam band in the seventies. Bet Dave brubeck never smoked a joint in his life.

  • que impro mas buena

  • carl palmer = OG

  • to all you "haterz" ....smoke a fat joint and listen to the man rip it on a Hammond organ.....anybody can play lounge jazz......this is 1970 it's called psychedelic music man get with it......go listen to Gates of Kiev 1971

  • @ComradeCrusty ...."Lounge Jazz"? Seriously? Get a refund on that joint.

If Brubeck is "Lounge Jazz", then King Crimson is rap.

  • It's sad, what they done with this rondo:(.

  • Sad is what you have to read sometimes... Sad is talking about something you don't know what it is all about, or you are just unable to appreciate, while letting everybody know about your ignorance. Sad is thinking you can put Art left on the scale and difficulty on the right, so it's always better art that one which requires higher skills. Sad is closing your mind and ears to just one artist, album or style when there are lots of them "anytime anyhow anywhere". But keep trying, training is ok.

  • wow this is pretty terrible for ELP. you figure they'd do a better cover for such a great song but i guess they didn't know what groove was for this song

  • This is horrible.

  • don't like it

  • this is so beast. haha. i kinda like how they kept it in 4 the whole time.

  • i think the drummer wasn't good enuf for 9/8

  • Thanks for posting this! I've never seen the full clip before! Historic moment!

  • It still looks like Nice , maltreating his Hammond !

  • @express49 no moog yet?

  • @napomania Not yet !

  • man, what does he do to his piano? :D

  • what an original variation of the classic brubeck tune

  • shut off!!!

i don't know what are you talkng about

thi fuckin' song is great!!!fuck you that don't understand it.

  • Are You ?

  • fuckin' noboby!!! yyyyeeaahhhhh@@@@

who dare to be better !!!!

  • yes I know this is david brubeck's work but what a piece of art....they did it in a gratefull way!!!

in ilse of wigth what a great work!! who elsecould do this fuckin' great song this way like emmerson lake and palmer...i do not discharge it.

opposing i like it!!! tell me who done greater than that!!!!???

  • Actually, the piece was written by the saxiphonist as a practice run for the drummer to acclimate to the unusual timing of Brubeck's compositions. I am frustrated that I can't remember the saxist's name!!!

  • uh, desmond?

  • The ultimate sound : Paul Desmond .

  • well, it's maybe not as u want it, but it's fuckin sexy

  • i am drunk sorry

  • bubreck

  • I love the original Dubreck kick the as of this song.

  • well the young people always beleive wath more fast is better

  • they have put it into lousy 4/4 and killed the song.

  • not a pimple on brubeck's ass, but still pretty good.

  • Its an L 100 actually!!!!! The other is the C3

  • that poor b-3 organ.

  • Oh for shit's sake ELP, how can you have the affrontry to not only change the time signature, thus negating the relevance of the title, but doing so wearing those horrendous outfits?? You silly, silly men! tarkus is wonderful though.

  • They have a live album with these perfromances

  • best keyboard player of ever!

  • What happened to the cool time signatures? D:

  • he got horrible twisted to 4/4

  • What's your problem? You have the Brubeck version (undoubtedly great). You have this version (also great in a different way). It's not like ELP doing the song displaced the Brubeck version. Or were you looking for a carbon copy instead of an inventive alternative?

  • @CatapultYourMom That shit was awful. Lol.

  • I didn't know this, and I'm doing the Brubeck version for my audition for University.

Also: What is that blue plastic thing he is wearing? My god style has changed..

  • This is the greatest of performances
