  • Hey mate is it hard to come by the full wood for this model as i have brought one and the wood has been cut down and i want to replace it

  • Beautiful rifle! I have a 1952 Fazakerley (FTR) Shoots like a dream and the action is smooth and fast! Got it for $100 about 15 years ago. Was offered $350 last year.....no thanks!

  • Which SMLE is best in accuracy? No.1 Mk.III or the later model series?

  • wots wiv the vegemite?

  • how do you spell dat sancoerait? coating you are talking about i cannot find anything on google! about it

    i own an no4 mk2 12/54 and love it!!

only thing is what are the adjustements in sights and how do they work starting at 200 yards ore so?

    Kind regards from holland

  • Verry nice rifle mate im buying one soonis it accurate??

  • what was the (F) for mate?

  • @w3b5h06un Fazakerley - the place it was made - outside of Liverpool England

  • this is my favourite gun,but i am chinese,i cannot have gun,wuwuwuwu~~~

  • Jollygreen. Nice rifle! I have one like that as well (11/54). The electro stenciling on yours looks like it was painted over. Mine looks exactly the same. Did the Brits apply the finish before or after the stenciling? If the former is the case, wouldn't the stenciling reveal the bare metal? It would makes sense to apply the finish after the stenciling to protect against rust, but I've seen other No4Mk2's with bright stenciling going down to the bare metal. Which shows correct, original finish?

  • @crekow got a line on one without mag, made in 53 verygood plus for 100.00 good deal?

  • @chopperslam69 VERY good deal IF it has a good bore and is safe to fire.

Be sure to have the headspace checked by a good gunsmith before firing.

These rifles are a joy to shoot, and the later models (No.4 Mk 2's) are generally the best made and most accurate.

  • @chopperslam69 magazines can be found readily at online auctions or at gunshows.

    Good luck.

  • @chopperslam69 Keep in mind that the magazines for the earlier No.1 Mk3 rifles differ somewhat from the later, No. 4 model magazines. They're not interchangeable.

  • I like the rectangaled look to the guns.

    There very nice guns indeed

And what state do you live in Australia?

    Thanks

  • I've sent you a cupple of e-mails with responce. Are you stilll making video's. Will you answer questions. Thanks, Hank

  • i think that the whole bayonet thing with the No. 4's was the only thing i never liked about them, the No. 1's were so much nicer with the bayonets on

  • Nice to see somebody else shares my enthusiasm for this fine piece of miltary history. It's a nice piece of kit, and you must be proud of it.

Sometimes the old ones really are the best!

  • i just recently aquired the canadian smle no.4 mk.1 could you do a video on that please also what exactly does vagimite taste like?

  • What's vegamite?

  • excellent review man nice rifle, I hope to get my hands on one of these sometime soon

  • YUMMY VEGEMITE!!!

  • Hello. I have a number 4 mark 1 but it has the mark 2 trigger. Dont know if they might have upgraded it during service or if it was done as a replacement in the past. All the numbers match on the rifle. Marked 1941 on receiver

  • in canada, the shoulder pieces come in a variety of lengths...how do you make sure you get a proper longer version...usually you wind up with the shorter, midget length versions

  • ... wtf is with the vegimaite

  • @bhoward422 leave the vegemite alone.. its great stuff.. you should try it sometime..

  • jolly, you need to get a tripod :D. I've gotta say, The "Improved enfields" coming out of Australia are top notch! of course they're not a real .303. but they really nice just the same!

  • why the vegimite?

  • @superscoutman why not?!

  • nice vid, love lee enfields

  • I just saw one today on gunbroker still in the original wrapping.

  • blow some cunts head off

  • Please don't tell me that's a deac that's all chopped up inside? I die a little every time I see a beautiful peice of history mangled like that.

How hard WOULD it be to reactivate a deactivated rifle, anyway?

  • Vegemite forever!!!

  • Im buying one this week, man do I love my 2nd amendment rights......

  • When I was an Army Cadet back in the 1990's I used to shoot blanks on a .303 all the time, man they were loud. We had hundreds of the rifles, all in very good condition too, I wonder what happened to them all?

  • It's a beautiful example. Mine isn't so pristine...but again, I can go out to the range and shoot mine. To have these but have to deactivate them is almost criminal.

  • hi i am from India and we like australia were one of the manufacturers of this rifle, even to this day many police units still use them and is criticised for poor performance against terrorists but folks this rifle is not meant for a closed quarter battle against automatic rifles this is an infantry man's weapon anyways controversy or no controversy this is an excellent weapon.

  • are these commonly sold as unissued? because i got one that's unfired and supposedly unissued and it looks the part

  • wat does FAC mean?

  • lol vegemite

  • i just got a Lee Enfield Number4 mk1 caliber 303

  • Thumbs UP, very nice!

  • G'day!

  • The .303 Enfield was the fist rifle I fired and I love it. Its simple to use and easy to clean and is a very effective weapon. The only thing i found was that when I was reloading it from the mag it jammed.

  • @markmason13 I did a video about my Lee Enfield jamming. Feel free to watch it....it might help you.

  • i have one just like that ecept the front shit is litel tilted but it shoots wher you point .

so i want to know is it posseble to suppress one ?

  • i like vegimite haha

  • Very nice!

  • are you sure it is not a No.8 I thought the No.4 was the shortened jungle version?

  • @terryjosie

The No.5 was the carbine terryjosie

  • love the .303

  • yay

  • how much did you pay for this one

  • I tend to not think about where the M1 came from but more about where the American forces took it, and what they did with it! M1 is a beautiful rifle and we are lucky to have been on the shooting end of it. We all know what happend to the forces on the business end of it.

  • I want to try vegemite. Looked it up and sounds good. Lots of history in Australia even though it's apparently an American product. Much like the M1 Garand has a lot of history in the US but it's a Canadian rifle :P John C Garand, the Canadian, and the inventor of the M1! Muahaha!

  • Marmite's better then vegemite.

  • i recently got a enfield nearly identical to yours but i need bayonet for it how much would one be

  • what is vegemite

  • debatin on gettin either a mosin nagant or a lee enfield and im not sure wich one to get

  • Depends if your gonna buy a hunting rifle or a target/plinking rifle.

  • hunting

  • man get the enfield, ive got bith and there both great rifles, but the enfield is so much nicer, its an elegant weapon as the mosin nagant is a work horse.....but then again the mosin nagant ammo is sooooo much cheaper,

  • Outstanding Rifle.

  • I have a lee enfield handed down to me. it dose not have the battle casings around the barrel, also it says 1950 on the barrel under the bolt area. and on the stock it looks that there was a disk shaped stamp or badge, can some one help we with which model it is?

    Thanks lots

    CarbonBullets

  • Does anyone know if these are legal in the UK with an FAC?

  • @PyroPeeta yes lee enfields are legal for a FAC a found a place ware u can pick

new enfields up for £280 plus

  • Lol, cadets. Cadets are bs. Only if you want to get points with an employer by having it on your cv, thats when its actually useful to do.

  • yer im in australian army cadets

  • wouldnt you shoot the f88 austyer 9mm mod for your air cadets

  • is there a video on the 1927 Model?

  • what are those slots for at 2:04? i have 1910 Ross, it has the same thing, but i dont know what its for, thanx

  • @Sagit112585 lol it does... it was a "revolutionary" bolt opening spring... really decreased loading time and re-loading time... lol

  • Well Done!

  • He just smiled, and gave me a Vegemite sandwhich.......haha

  • I have a No. 4 MK1 produced at Longbranch in 1944, I really love that rifle. It is very accurate and fun to shoot. I find your videos very informative. Thanks for posting them.

  • Great rifle mate! I just picked up a Mk4 #1 dated 1944 manufactured by Long Branch..It shoots very quick and flat..I will be posting a video of it soon as well as a shooting video with all my WW2 Rifles..good on ya mate!

  • mk4s are bloody heavy.

  • i just bought a 1944 longbranch too but i am not sure how to tell what mk it is ........any help?

  • are you australian

  • Nice rifle mate!

  • nice rifle

    what is vegemite?

  • Think it's Australian Marmite or something like that.

On a rifley note, the No4 Mk2 is a fantastic rifle. Would love to shoot with one some day. Working action deac's just aren't the same...

  • i like vegimite on toast

  • how much is a no4 mk2 worth in cdn dollars apx? love the veggiemite promo, although marmite is better. but hey to each their own. enjoy your mite mate

  • MrBasslineraver69,

Guns are NOT banned (per se) in the UK, you just need to go through a lot of paperwork, as well as police checks to be able to be granted either a Firearms Certifictae (FAC) or a Shotgun Certificate (SGC). Please don't fall into the trap that most others do, in respect of being able to own firearms in the UK. ;o)

  • how much does a no4 mk2 cost for a good one in the uk??

    thanks

  • And too think guns are banned in the uk......pathetic!

  • Vegemite is blacker than axle grease, thicker than axle grease and if you spread it too thick on your toast and take a bite, it's like jamming your toung onto an electric fence. Your glands in your mouth go apeshit. No joke. Love your vids Jollygreen. Hope to see more soon.

  • im from australia and looking at buying a lee enfield .303, any advice you could give me on what model to look for ect?

  • Nice rifle

  • I think vegemite is an Australian peanut butter, only it doesnt taste real good. but why are we talking about australian food in a gun video

  • He proberly uses it to grease the parts

  • its like marmite its a spread

  • it's a yeast extract,a by product from brewing beer,us english have marmite,it's the dogs bollocks

  • Sorry if you said this in another video but what is vegemite?

  • its a spread we put on sandwiches and toast and stuff. i think its like a yeast concentrate paste or something, very strong taste

  • very accurate

  • Beautiful rifle

I have a deactivated No.4 Mk1 US PROPERTY 1943 dated rifle and its very nice, would be nice to have a live firer though!!

  • Any rifle that been "deactivated" is no more than a club. Therefore you have a club that looks like a rifle.

  • Urm, I don't really care if its no more than a "club"

Its still a rifle, it still works, but it doesn't fire. I'd rather have a legal weapon on no FAC rather than no FAC and having an illegal firearm. Anyway's it's a bit of history im glad to own.

  • @BOT101st Deactivated weapons are not weapons they are scrap.

    Why?

Because they are little more than lumps of metal. If the gun cant speak then something must be lost yes?

  • @Pawnbroker00

...Look. If you haven't already read what I said to "supressorgrid" about my deactivated weapon then read it. Im only 17 so im not even a legal age to possess a legal live firing weapon of a higher calibre than .22. I use a deactivated rifle for reenactments I go to. Sure it might not fire, but it can be a good thing to show people how it works and is good for drill! I don't really care if people call them "scrap" they're a bit of history!

  • @BOT101st Dude, i guess the point people are trying to make is, coming on a video about a gun and saying.... oh, i have one of those but you can't use it for the sole purpose it was designed is like saying i have a shovel but without the spade bit on the end.... call it a deactivated shovel if you want but it's basically a stick.

  • @brutalsea1

...Yes, I know, but I have an interest in the gun, and at the time I was only liable to purchase that kind of rifle (or anything .22 or less), but now im the legal age (18) im going to apply for my FAC in which I'll be able to buy a live firing lee enfield. Reason I got a deac was because 1) I do historical reenactment, 2) it's a tad bit safer for the public to look at rather than a live and 3) good to show how it works for the public... so yeah ¬.¬

  • @Pawnbroker00 thats like saying swords in a musuem are scrap because your not allowed to hack people to bits with them....

  • @vileniall007 Swords in a museum arent scrap because they are original. Deactivated firearms are just showpieces.. the actual parts which played a part in history are melted down and destroyed because some government thinks that civilians will want to kill eachother with them.

  • Excellent rifle!

Lots of history with the Enfield .303

    Thanx for sharing.

  • do you need any special gun licence to own old military rifles??

  • Not for an older rifle, or modern. As long as their not fully auto, or anything ridiculous like that. Also, It depends on the state in which you live... Im from Indiana and the only thing we need a license for is a concealed handgun.

  • no, you just need to be 18

  • hey, good gun! thanks for sharing!

  • is 303 ammo hard to find ????

  • nope common here in the usa

  • Very common ammo.

  • Dude, what's up with you; why are you being a jerk to everyone? Do you enjoy it?

  • What did you mean about looking it up in the records at 3:30. How do you go about doing that?

  • Then why did you take the time to watch it in the first place? Just a thought.

  • 1:58=parkerizing?

  • wooo go australia vegemite is the best with toast

  • the best lee enfilds are the ones 1910-1918

  • how much do you want for it

  • which enfield was it that was made in India?

  • the enfield made in india was an ishapor (sorry for the spelling) and most were made in 308 or converted to it

  • I found a company called Australian International Arms that sells new-manufacture Lee Enfields, designated the No 4 Mk IV, chambered for the .308. It has a ten round detachable box magazine, that is truly detachable due to the improved magazine release lever. I live in the U.S., so I'd have to figure a way to import one if I wanted it, but it looks really nice.

  • Without a doubt one of the best, if not the best, bolt action battle rifles in the world. Now used a lot in northern Canada to hunt bear, dear and moose. Still used in a few forces in the world like the police forces of India, and the Canadian Northern Rangers in the arctic. Takes abuse better then the M-16/C-7 used by regular Canadian troops. Used by the Afghans against the Soviets soldiers to great effect, even against AK47s.

The Lee Enfield. A classic ! I have a No. 4 Longbranch. No Sell !

  • haha, so true,

    NO SELL NO SELL!!

  • Maby a stupit question, but they aren't still in production?

  • whats with the marmite in every vid well nearly?

  • Aussies and the Veggimite. I remember the first time I encountered that stuff. Nice vids. Nice rifles. I started with Mosins and I am now in love with the Enfields.

  • Great Video

I just bought a Burma Contract No4Mk2 dated 6/53 last week. Asides from some dinged up wood, its in great condition.

I do wish I had watched your video as I did not know about the little screw that holds the stock to the receiver. I felt very dumb after noticing it.

  • the lee enfield was used by the aussie's because they still belonged to the british

  • What rifles did the australians use in world war 2?

  • i think they used a lee enfield along with the british

  • they did but the gun was made in britain

  • The ANZACs used the SMLE or No 1 rifle which was made in Australia. The Australian factories supplied Britain with rifles. As far as I know Britain did not supply rifles to Australia. Unlike Britain, the ANZACs stuck with the SMLE throughout WWII.

  • I like the mauser 98 more.

  • claasic vegemite i love the stuff

  • This vid makes me jealous. I have a 1952 LE in very very good condition but I have to keep it hidden for fear of losing it to the cops. Instant 3 years minimum in prison if convicted of firearm charges in the UK. But I won't give it up. I don't even have any ammo for it. Fúcking wánkers like Michael Ryan & Thomas Hamilton ruined it for us. Bástard UK nanny goverment.

  • I have a 1943 MK1 LongBrnach that was passed to me through my grandfather, havent shot it yet but I cant wait :D

  • I am looking for a Mk2 so does anybody know where i could get my hands on one?

  • Please tell me why that bottle is always next to your rifles & what does it contain? Thanks for sharing all these beautiful rifles.

  • i have a 1952 model and it has a sort of cherry maple colored finish on the stock. but very nice man. very nice

  • very nice.

  • What do you use vegemite for? We live in Holland and friends bring it over for us from Australia my mom loves it.

  • It's darn near impossible not to love the Enfield. I

t's even better when a buddy who no longer has an Enfield unexpectedly gives you around 800 rounds of Greek HXP ammunition just to clear up space in his garage.

    Very nice video, BTW.

  • Do these come in different caliburs, because i think i fired a similar looking weapon in .22, possibly an modification of it.

  • no it was a training rifle. I've seen what you talking about. Their pretty cool. Speaking of different enfields i did see one converted to .410 shotshell.

  • some countries converted them to 7.62 nato

  • your voice seems a bit troubled

  • so much cooler than our C7's

  • I love your videos. Nice to have an informed gun collector comment on the ins and outs of these fine old rifles. I'm also in your camp, but only collect German WWII rifles and machineguns.

  • man this guy is funny

  • I have one of these, a deact one too. Some have a letter T one them but mine dosen't either. And my banet is the spike type.On mine the Mag number matches the rifle it' self so that's good it's hard to get them to match now. You forgot to mention that in the but of the rifle there's a brush !!!!

  • I totally enjoyed your videos. I have recently obtained a 1952 no4 mk2 Lee Enfield, I dont know much about dismantling the fire arm.

Would it be possible for you to make a video? On dismantling and reassembling it would be a great help.

    Keep up the good work

    Eamonn Dunne {Ireland}

  • iv seen these bayonets at gunshows with a black finish and a serrated edge, for 5 bucks, are they real?

theyr not proper for my no4 mk1* but still they look great

  • haha i wouldnt wanna get stabbed by that bayonet its a beast

  • Could you tell me where you found the history of the rifle (if it was a website). Cheers

  • i've always liked how the Lee-Enfield series rifles has always had some clean/elegant lines

  • how much do these cost?

  • no.4 mk2: anywhere from 225-700

    no.4 mk1/ mk1*: anywhere from 200-600

    SMLE: around the same

no.5's usually start at 500 and go up from there

  • Lovely rifle, just like the rest of your collection.

  • i know its a little late slug, but why dont you just put the camera on a tripod and handle the gun around it, would make for easier cocking of the gun and such

  • dispara tio!!

  • Is Vegemite good for you? Whats it made of?

  • ;) Naah, its made of vegtables. Marmite is a lot better!

  • those brits can sure make a mean rifle.

  • yes we can btw is brits takeing the piss like yanks cuz atleast ino
