what i do at glentrees is park at the freeride park car park early befor the crowds and go to the top by the quarry and up afire road to the top off spooky wood, at the bottom of it turn left on the blue which brings you to a fire road and turn left again which bring you to the black near ewok village
did this route today for the first, and on my own which kida sucked, but anyway. this trail is pure savage, i didnt expect it to be so long, it goes on forever. i also thought that i was going to be spending the night there cause i left it a bit late and it was almost dark at redemption! was bricking it cause i thought i had much longer to go! so chufffed to be back in civilisation!
Shame about the multiple punctures, did you enjoy innerlethen, spare inner tubes?
Look at the other videos they are better quality and contain bits that are no longer on the black route. I suspect you would have liked it even more with the wood work!
rode this route for the first time this week - amazing, but dont think my 10 year old rockhopper (judy c's, v brakes and tired old wheels) enjoyed it much! half of its left on the trails somewhere...
Shame video quality is crap, as that could have been a nice video. I usually do the red route at GT but was beginning to find it to easy. Did the black route for the first time the otehr day and thought it was brilliant. Quite tough going at 30km long, but some of the downhill sections are brilliant - well worth the long slog up. Was knackered at the end mind you.
Make sure you have some balls, stamina, and skill before doing the black run.
After ewok village it goes a bit mad, don't let your concentration slip either, otherwise you'll end up with a shattered wrist and a metal plate and screws holding it together like me :P
Glentress black run aint like some other black trails in uk. Glentress red is harder than llandegla black run, there is no consistancy as I found out ;)
Worth doing tho, it was great fun, just be prepared for a hard ride.
You will enjoy it, see google video version for more, as it does not fit here, it will take quite a bit longer but you can bypass the deliverance bit if it's too hard going or you run out of time, pace your self and enjoy every bit if this route.

Once you go black, you need a wheelchair. ;)
