Could anyone answer this for me about the program. For monday (max effort upper body) it says Max-Effort Exercise work up to a max set of 3-5 reps in one of the following exercises. So does that mean do 2 warm up sets?
and Supplemental Exercise perform 2 sets of max
reps in one of the following exercises. (Choose a weight
you can perform for 15-20 reps on the 1st set. Use the same
weight for both sets and rest 3-4 minutes between sets). does this mean do 3 sets total?
@RiseAgainstFan741 yeah the working sets. and for the max effort lift you use as many warm up sets as you need. warming up to 435 would take probably 10 sets. warming up to 135 would take like 2 sets
you use a fat bar to stimulate the central nervous system differently there for stimulating different muscle fibers and preventing stagnation in ones program. It can also be used for other things like grip strength.
...actually, the main thing it does is work grip strength. The reason it stimulates everything else is because the grip is the basis of human upper body strength. Grip work will change any exercise, including a pushup (off the fingers), pullups (ropes or towels) and etc.
more people do it with the thick bar because it is much more comfortable and it wouldn't hurt as much because the boards might break causing the impact to be less
This isn't the only place in America that uses 2/3/4 boards for a Bench Press excercise. I've done damn close to 435 on a block. Sorry bud, it didn't break. Your grip on the bench has nothing to do with the boards breaking - like I said to begin with.
There is a differnce because the guys weight is spread out over his entire foot and if he is wearing shoes plus his foot offers cushening. A bar with over 400 pounds is bringing a lot of force over a small impact zone.
if you read my first post the guy was complaining that he didnt want 435lbs falling on his chest cuz he was using a suicide grip and i said the boards would break and you wouldnt get injuried if the weight fell.
@xXDrunk3nMast3rXx thumbless grip in general keeps your elbows in more...good if you have shoulder injuries. on a fat bar it's also hard to use thumb around the whole thing

I feel as if there's more strength when I do the same grip as him opposed to wrapping his thumbs around the bar.

id figure the board would slide the bar to his neck, but he does have a whole room of spotters

It's less pressure on your shoulders. You guys are idiots whoever said because the boards would break.

this message shows you cant read, i said " the boards might break causing the impact to be less" Not he is doing it to intensionally break the boards
puttter 3 years ago
Duh, your an idiot. He's not going break the 2X4s, they're made of freaking wood.
ftblfntk56 3 years ago
so let me guess, you are ffrom somewhere where wood is make of steel? take 435 pounds and drop it on any type of wood and it will break

the boards won't break. Ryan Kennelly has done over 1000lb bench off of a 1 board. it didn't break.
