I have a dodge and I have a ford the dodge has a 360 gas and the ford has a 390 out of a 67 mustang gt I like both of them, the dodge is all stock and runs pretty good but the ford with the 390 and 4.11 rears and 4 spd can go from 0 to a 110 really quick, as far as pulling goes the dodge would probably do better with a longer wheel base and a posi rear but the ford has the power but could probably not get hooked up.

@Southernpride005 not really, the engine may be big but only because it has to be to make that power and that power is only made at a higher rpm than a cummins. If both trucks had equal traction the cummins would be dragging the 460 around before the 460 could get started and the cummins would still last longer either way. The dodge also weighs at least 1000 pounds more than the ford.

1979 F250 w/ a 460 in it is an awesome truck. might have some overheating problems but its a great truck.

damn your lucky our farm truck is a 2500 cummins stock and i drive a f250 wit the powerstroke nd the cummins tranny has went boom twice but its beefd up now while the strokers hasnt yet but mayb its jus a rare situation idk but both get used the same ways so idk lol

The company went through 4 transmissions on 3 ford trucks just last year alone! Fords are the worst trucks on the planet. Dodge is the best.

@ProStreet83C10 if it's an auto tranny it will go around 150,000-170,000, but if it's a stick you cant beat it. ive seen alot of dodge tranny's go right around 160,000 but my buddy put 6 in his 97 befor he hit 180,000

ya thats true the manuals last forever if u drive em right but if u got alotof mods u'll need a dual disc clutch n ur golden but ya i kno several dodges havin to replace auto trans and front ends almost fallin out (2wd weldin truck) but ive seen em last too so idk w/e reason it is not a reason to not get a cummins =)!

i agree but i dont know if id say ANYTHING a diesel will...ive seen many a stock diesel pull well over 35,000 or 40,000 lbs. But yeah, those big lbock gas motors do have nice pulling power, just not the economy of a diesel LOL!

its not about who has more power. its about who has more traction. if the cummins has some aggressive tires that would have dug into the dirt he would have had a better chance. but obviously the ford had better traction.
