She's the face of SNSD for a reason, the looks, being able to dance, an idol, and an actress. Whether she's a natural or not, she carries the image of SNSD on her BECAUSE she was able to do and have all those things. So I think that alone IS her talent. Sure, she can't sing as well as Taeyeon, or dance like Hyeon, but the fact that she's so versatile in so many areas...........she deserves it.
in this same audition, she sang too, but it wasn't included in this video.
she actually had a lot of potential in her voice, and if SM actually trained her in vocals instead of acting, then i think she would have been a really great singer.
but instead she became an actress and the face of SNSD.
i want to audition for SM but I just don't have the confidence. I posted I video of me free styling to BigBangs new song... I have years of dancing training but I am just not confident in freestyle! (thats what the audition is based on >.<) i'd just really appreciate it if you guys would come and check out my video if you have time.
I don't think they judge them only from watching their 10 second performance, there should be something else, otherwise you just pick them randomly, get some surgery and trained so hard for 5-6 years. You can see that SNSD have some naturally charms in individual.
However, I do want to point out the fact that it's harder to stay in SM and easier to get in. The training process is brutal, and a lot of people who got in eventually quit because it's so hard. So, to be able to make it through the training process is quite a feat, and no doubt Yoona improved.

If you watch all of these audition videos, the key was confidence. All of these trainees showed confidence and the ability to learn and improve. Also, if you watch everyone else's audition videos, no one looked very good. But I guess the judges saw something in them that could make them the big stars that they are today. I wouldn't also say it's just appearance because obviously she showed in this audition that she can at least keep a beat when she dances.

@LadyEnGi SME enlist those children who made it to the next stage after the audition, they've been trained with all skills(acting/dancing/gag/singing)through each day of training, they will be evaluate and judge whether they've improved on all skills or not, if they feel the trainee can't cope up and didn't show any improvements, they will be taken out, so basically they wanna look at the trainee's determination on becoming an idol,they'll debut once their ready n well prepared,
I don't think SM took her as a trainee just because she's pretty and she's not talented either. But I believe that being hardworking is extremely important. SM may have chosen the trainees not based on their talents but whether they have perseverance to endure the training, hardworking and willing to put an effort to learn. There's no point in finding talented people who are lazy cos they won't go anywhere further in future. I did see some flexibility and confidence in her audition (:

HOWEVER, the ages of idols debuting are quite low (Taem from SHINee debuted 14/15 international age) and the average time u spend in an agency before debut is 3-5 yrs, possibly 2 yrs. In the end though, it all depends on talent, skills and how hardworking u are. ;)

I don't think SM took her as a trainee just because she's pretty and she's not talented either. But I believe that being hardworking is extremely important. SM may have chosen the trainees not based on their talents but whether they have perseverance to endure the training, hardworking and willing to put an effort to learn. There's no point in finding talented people who are lazy cos they won't go anywhere further in future. I did see some flexibility and confidence in her audition (:

Sm picked her for her looks(she isn't that pretty to me though, don't know why ppl say she's the prettiest :/ ) people say that yoona contributed alot to make snsd popular by acting and modeling, but if she can't sing or dance and can only model and act, I don't get why she became a singer in the first place :X

@SonElfCassie haha please, trust me, even any korean on some street can sing in to the new world :) it is not a hard song :) everyone can sing that :) a singer should be able to sing songs that ordianry people can't :) there are MANY korean idols who just care and get attention for their looks, and have VERY little talent, and snsd is one of them :) (except for tayeon, i know that she can sing pretty well)

HOWEVER, the ages of idols debuting are quite low (Taem from SHINee debuted 14/15 international age) and the average time u spend in an agency before debut is 3-5 yrs, possibly 2 yrs. In the end though, it all depends on talent, skills and how hardworking u are. ;)
