It could be that you're trying to use the clone stamp tool on an empty layer instead of the picture you're hoping to sample from. Lemme know what happens!!

CS3 and CS4 are virtually the same whereas CS5 is more point and click, a DEFINITE IMPROVEMENT!

@Corerrai you can use the way rebelmxgirl did it or if you want a much quicker way and if done properly it can look good so go on filer>liquify and try replicate the avatars nose not better just a quick alternative :)

actually, a much better way to alter the nose and enlarge the eyes is the filter>distort>liquify tool. use the icon of a circle with arrows around it, it'll enlarge things.

Great tutorial. Although, being a beginner with photoshop, I would of preferred to have a voice tutorial as some elements were cut and written instead and I got lost at some points but nice job.

I can just get up to the nose - it's been hrs & a few attempts. The layer thing gets me. Not too sure when to make a layer & exactly how to or what layers to merge together. Very hard. Not too sure how I blended the nose part - that was from pure frustration.

@WonderOfTheWorlds I agree. I am able to get some parts done but then I get lost. The nose didnt look quite like this one and the smudging ruined it and when.

Just a suggestion. If you are not going to talk throughout the tutorial, at least cover everything so we see everything you do and not hide parts your screen. And walk us through the right tabs, brushes...etc :)
