Long long ago, a DRUNKEN Colonel in Keesler AFB was driving back on base and drove too high on a curb and almost ran over two Airmen. The colonel, being a full bird got away with being drunk and said that the airmen were in danger because he couldn't see them at night. Because a colonel cannot do wrong the blame was placed ENTIRELY on the airmen. there ya go
i have to ask this. WHY are people walking out in front of or behind moving vehicles to allow themselves to get run over in the first place?? a reflective belt can't fix stupid. if you ask me, people stupid enough to step out into the path of a moving vehicle deserve to get hit by it. end of story.
They definitely go overboard with PT belts at certain FOBs. In one of my deployments to Speicher they wouldn't let you enter the DFAC without one on. As in, after entering the building, washing your hands, and passing through the next set of doors to scan your ID, you still had to be wearing one to prove that you had been wearing one when you were walking or driving there. Yup.
Sorry i'm so cynical. But I've read the accident reports for people getting run over by MRAPS and Humvees. If Anaconda is so dangerous from snipers and insurgents, why aren't they wearing body armor and helmets?
OK You find it ironic that you have to wear a reflective belt walking down the side walk to the PX so you won't be hit by the shuttle bus when you cross the asphalt street because your in a "Combat Zone"? Maybe someone determined your more likely to die being hit by an MRAP than a Sniper?! MRS Pvt Snuffy your husband was killed in Iraq when he was hit by an MRAP in the PX parking lot! Now thats IRONIC!!!
