when is the perfect point to say "down"? As the dog comes under the knee or if he is laying on the floor?

@RockHailand you shouldn't say "down" until the dog already knows that "down" is what you want. Once they are doing the position, then you add the cue and they will then associate that word with the action.

my dog WILL NOT lay down on command. He is MinPin/Chihuahua so he is very sure of himself. He does some commands- Sit, Leave it (with anything), but refuses to lay down. he starts shaking like he is in trouble.

I am not sure if i fully agree with treat training.

Perhaps its just teach the dog that we're the submissive ones. I saw Don sullivans dvd, I'm a bit influenced by him.

Tho there are ppl who disagree with him, I'm just confused.

as your dog goes down say the command and when your dog has held it praise them whilst saying the command thats worked so far for me
