  • Bore/Stroke

Ford truck engines to the KA and SR. Biggest stroke first. meow we know why the KA has torque :) lool

    KA26DET-3.54" x 4.01"

    400 C v8-4.0" x 4.0"

    300 inline 6-4.000" X 3.980"

    460 v8-4.360" x 3.85"

    KA24DET-3.50" x 3.78"

    351 v8-4.004" x 3.5"

    SR20DET-3.38" x 3.38"

  • im goin ka-t

  • KA-T!!!!!!!

  • Your Contemplating if you should go SR of KA-T.... but for some reason you find yourself watching this vid all the time..... especially for the blue s14 kickout while hitting boost. NICE!! KA-T FTW!!!

  • I don't understand the whole logic behind an SR20 swap. You're losing nearly half a liter in displacement, and pretty much all the torque.

The KA is THE torquiest (not a word idfc) 4 cylinder I've ever seen, especially after a turbo.

  • @ChubbaFluff Too good dude. Too good. Thumbs up for you. I love that quote and imma use it if its ok with ya. :D

  • wtf at 2:02!! lol!

  • what if you have a single over head camm

  • sr20's are fake

  • gauges come loose at 2:08...ka powwa

  • damn cant wait to boost my torquey KA

  • SR20 = disgrace to the Nissan name. if you want a 2.0L Nissan engine its an RB20 you need. but gotta go KA all day bitches

  • ka-t.org click on rides go to ramon. scroll down to the bottom and watch his video's, lets see that with an SR

  • after watching this, im glad i went SR. ^_^

  • Was that fire from the external wastegate at 1:08 ?

  • Comment removed

  • lmfao at the gauges at 2:02

  • I WAS WATING TO GET PAID TO DO AN SR20 SWAP BUT WACHING THESE GUYS

NO WAY IM GOING TO BOOST MY KA ITS ON THANKS SO MUCH FOR THIS VIEDO

MY S14 THANKS YOU TOO.. PEACE

  • I LOVE hearing people say they wish they would've gone ka-t instead of sr powered. Makes me feel so goody, you know. KA FTW

  • Where can I get the gauge cluster that fits into the air vent about your air controls?

  • @tatted0891 on ebay or make them. their cheap and dont look ricey

  • how long did it last??

  • open diff donuts lol

  • My car should be on there!

  • lol at that guy's center console at 2:05

  • i think the one thing sr20 owners neglect about ka's is that iron blocks are 100times stronger in the long run. Stock internal wise i'm not familiar with the ka, i have heard boost can easily kill them, but having an iron block is enough for me to convert. I still love my sr, too bad the rods are weak as shit.

  • @kingtipz the internals in the sr are actually better suited for boost over the ka. i mean you'd be perfectly fine with a ka-t on stock boost but as soon as you decide you want to push more boost you need to get a pretty damn good tune to feel completely safe. but hey, that's why you can always buy forged internals, right? ;) lol

  • @ISeanzyyyI dude well just for information purposes, the ka stock internals have already been tested and can handle 30psi , the ka also already has forged internals which is why it is a good engine for performance wise , well of course the pistons arent forged but the rods and crank are and you dont hav to buy forged pistons till you reach around 300hp, the rods 400-500, and customized crank at 700-800

  • @McOrca09 that's fine and i don't doubt it, but you must also consider what kind of tune that particular ka had. there is no way in hell stock internals on 30lbs with either no tune or a shitty tune will last you a week if you're beating on it. 300hp is easily achieved with the sr and ka which is why the sr internals imo are slightly better when comparing stockers. i would trust high boost on a ka if i KNEW i had a legit tune. i would feel safer with a stock bottom-end sr though. my .02

  • @McOrca09 ahh no, KA has cast steel pistons and the SR has cast aluminum. The cast steel is strong, but is bridle, thats why the ring lands fail after a little while on boost with KA. But honestly i wish i had gone KA-T, the money ive spent rebuilding my SR, i could have built a KA-T with forged internals and made a lot more power and still had that low end TQ and a stronger iron block :( the SR is far more balanced though so it wont shake the bearings out of itself like the KA will at high rpm

  • @ImportsAreBetter i kno this i said it in my comment that the pistons were not forged and still they can go up to 300hp before needing to get forged ones , and personally when i first turboed my first 240sx i was running 15lbs on it nothing ever happened till like two years i think later or 2 1/2 years later, fact is i did absoulte nothing to the motor which is freaking amazing that it even lasted that long without doing any motofication except the turbo kit, it could lasted longer with 7lbs.

  • @McOrca09 to be honest, its really hit or miss, it seems the higher mileage KA's with more wear tend to last longer then the lower mileage well maintained ones on boost. Ive seen ka's with 7lbs of boost blow in a week and ones with 13psi run good for years or are still running with no mods to the internals

  • @kingtipz U can buy superteck forged pistons that will handle boost very well for about $300 and rebuild the entire KA for about another $400 with machine work, NOTE THIS DOESN'T INCLUDE ANY TURBO PARTS!

  • got a buddy with a ka-t s14 zenki and i don't wanna sound like a dick but its 660whp

so....... how do i put it

    he'd win

  • lol i like both i have an sr right now but working on building a ka but all comes to end why would japan not let us have the sr20det? exactly lol.

  • @isthebeeflol Americans prefer low end TQ over high RPM power, its a marketing strategy to sell more cars

  • if price/weight were no issue i would happily build up a ka

  • idk y people gotta talk s$#!@ over something they saw as if it wer theirs, who the f is going 2 work 20 hours for free, for no good cause, itz all opinions, no one needz 2 get all but hurt over something that isn't theirs, my example ka's have a larger displacement which means that when u put a turbo on itz going 2 improve allot more than an sr but sr's are a little more eficiant, the rb26 is twin turbo n comes with allot of power but takes allot of work n money 2 make a slight difference.

  • wow you guys are fucking dumb! fighting online makes you fucking cool.. lmao anyways ka-t's can be build reliably to make good hp numbers on a budget, you just have to know what the hell you are doing! and skylinekyd for the price of your rb motor alone I can build a KA that won't blow up that could spank your rb

  • hey im 15 an next year ill be getting a car and stuff. I want a 240 but im not really positive what i wanna get. or i want a integra. anyone have any sudjestings? btw this is going into my favorites. thumbs up!

  • @corniea1 get a 240. not an integra.

    A 98' S14 would be sick!! hahaa.

  • @corniea1 im got a 97 240 for my 16 birthday...go with a 240

  • do u have all that stuff done to your car?

  • @Fender409

YOU must be a little boy then, trying to act "grown". Why don't you go back to watching POKEMON on youtube, and leave the car talk, to us MEN. ;-D

  • lol im pretty sure 450hp is a beast, at least thats what i think n i mop alot of car's. i kno my 240 is beast.

  • yea the same price for a 8cyc truck yea thats like saying my f150 would be cheaper to turbo u fucking fool just the turbos alone cost as much as my sr20 swap get off your crack couch !!

  • im not a ricer i have a truck.... chevy silverado 1500 but umm i just saying tht u a fucking idiot for thinking it takes thousands of dollars to obtain 200 hp for thousands of dollars i could get like 250 hp in my 240 but if i spent tht on my truck i could get like 450hp

im not a fucking ricer idiot

  • @nickpownsalll

Then STAY THE FUCK SHUT IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT! I never said it takes "thousands of dollars" to make 200 hp with a KA. Thats only 45 more then stock idiot. I said that if you want to make REAL horse power, like past 200 (250 and up), and STILL have it reliable (not gonna blow up on you) you DO need a pretty penny for it because you WILL be boosting it, and you WILL be needing forged internals, upgraded fuel system, FMIC, new intake, and so on and so on jerk.

  • @nickpownsalll

Ok nevermind I did say you need thousands of dollars to get a KA to 200 hp, lmao I meant 300 hp though. In all the "excitement" I must've typed 200.. Either way, I'll take it back buddy, I don't mind admitting it when I screw up. (^_>^)

  • u dont need a turbo dumb ass intake exhaust headers = roughly 200 hp.......... scrub

  • @nickpownsalll

Oh yeah, because 200 HP is SOOO much horsepower!! Right? You're a fucking idiot.. HYUNDAIS now and days come with more power than that! You stay thinking that you're little 200 hp 240 is a beast, you probably have a HUGE fucking spoiler on it as well, huh? Fucking ricer... 200 hp ain't SHIT!!!

  • it doesnt take thousands of dollars to get 200 mabey 700

  • Yeah you can always spend a couple hundred on a cheap turbo, turbo manifold and shit like that, but at the cost of RELIABILTY! The KA wasn't made for BOOST or big power so Turbocharging it without getting forged internals and upgrading the fuel system is just ASKING for it to break down. I think you guys who "believe" in the KA are just too BROKE to get a REAL HIGH PERFORMANCE engine like an RB or SR20. But idk, cause I just prove my point whenever I eat shitty "KA-T's" with my RB. ;-D

  • Guys guys, how about we drop this whole "KA-T" talk, and talk about a REAL engine that makes REAL power. Like my RB25DET! Why spend FRIVILOUS amounts on money on "building" a KA, just to run TOO much boost and have it blow up? When you can get an RB25 from an R33 and have 250 hp completely stock? That and TWO more cylinders which means more room for displacement. Soo you can spend a couple thousand trying to get the KA to 200 hp, OR get an RB25 and have 250 hp from the factory. ;-D

  • because you can get 250hp out of a KA for like 1200$ if you know what your doing, instead of spending like 2500$- 3000$ for an RB25. and when your RB needs parts or blows, you got to go on the computer and order parts or to a specialty performance shop and order parts. we would just have to run to autozone or some shit for our parts, and if our motor blows, well shit its only like 200$ for a new one. so yea, ill stick with my KA.

  • @xTrueNightmaresx 200 bucks not new* more like Used..butyeah it all comes dwn to knowledge and using it

  • should've said replacement, instead of new, my mistake.

  • dude u a fukin idiot ka r bad ass and yea rb r fukin sik i no my shit but no wat rb isnt fukin everything i can build my ka-t to shut ur shit down alright u motor is amazing but no its not everything fagget if u were a true fan u wouldnt talk shit ka sr ls1 can all b built to put ur shit to rest little boy been around cars all my life not to hear ur bull shit go some where else u fukin fagget

  • At first I wanted an SR20 but they cost like 2K and you still have to buy allot of additional parts to make...let's say 400whp.

So my friend and engine builder is going to build me a KA24 from scratch. 2.4L vs 2.0L 20% more displacement= more bottom-end power and a whole lot cheaper to build.

  • this video changed my mind about doing an sr20 swap.

    ka ftmfw.

  • @CanadianZenki mine too

  • @CanadianZenki Mad respect. Mad mothafuckin respect. I hate SR swaps too.

  • daam, how did u get your 240 to run like that?

  • it looked like the gauges eyes popped out. lol

  • man this video kicks ass. inspiration to get off my ass and go work on my car

  • The ka didnt come from a fucking truck it was first introduced in the Stanza.

  • yea but its looked at as a truck engine just because of the low to mid range torque. i dont have a problem with that. how often am i going to be going to red line on the street. makes fun street car with a turbo.

  • i like sr's because of the top end power, have you ever driven a ka its like driving a truck, if you want a ka buy a silverado.

  • No shit, it's a truck engine.

SR is a good motor, no doubt. But for someone like me, adding that T to your KA is much cheaper than swapping with an SR, not to mention you can get bigger numbers with an KA without putting a lot of money into it.

  • I like the KA better cause of the low end power.. you hear that all the time but have you ever driven an SR?? its like driving a honda, SR's like the top-end.. want an SR? go buy an S2k. (besides, the KA sounds sooo much better) Mines got a lip in it too.... sounds so sexy ;)

  • at 2:05 watch the dash

  • HAHAHAHAHA

  • and u have a wat thats so much better than a ka

  • dude if you are one of those fucking idiots that judges a motor by its displacement i will find you and make you eat my spare ka

  • haha no im not a no replacement for displacement guy but the ka has obvious advantages over an sr20...the only couple things the sr has oover the ka are things u can easily buy

  • well Mazworx has a 1000hp s14 running a sr20 with stock stroke/bore

  • And import DPS has an 1100hp KA

  • yo mama be a KA

  • kas are the shit.

    screw sr.

    haha

  • Every time i cant convince myself to get off my dead ass and work on my 240 i watch this, It nearly always gets me out there turning a wrench.

  • rarararararararaa

  • they say SR's are the way to go. i beg to differ. great vid.

  • never get tired of this video...

  • That S14 was the devil lol

  • KA is a fuckin torque monster!!!

  • KA for life

  • lol I used to say that until I bought an RB...Does that make me a traitor :(

  • no brother, it does not.......

  • wtf?! why can't I find a shop that can tune the ka-t here in ct, all they do is the fuckin sr20 or the more popular engines. Ka-t is the shit!!!

  • Im from Philadelphia, pa but have you been to CIP Motorsports in milford ct? Id be suprised if they didnt tune ka's they do everything else to 240's I buy parts from them...call them up and ask if they tune ka's 2037831422

  • yeah they just tell me to get an sr! the same issue they don't tune their either, if i can"t find a shop that does i'm just gonna get an sr for now

  • Welcome to my world. I live in the Birmingham AL area and no one has anything good to say about anywhere around here. It looks like I'm going to have to dust off my reading skills and learn how to do it all on my own and help from the peeps on the forums.

  • From what I have read is that if you have a stock solid ka you can run 6psi with no tune, but I need to find more info

  • cipmotorsports

    their really good

  • oh yeah I go there from time to time...i'll be there more now since i just an s14

  • yeah their shop is around the corner from my job, they are very knowledeable too. lol matter of fact I have go pick up a cat from them tomorrow!!

  • if they can tune an sr they can tune a ka...or you can tune it yourself with nistune or another rom...

  • So true...but most of the shops around here are just so fuckin lazy or really dont see ka potential? I have a solid ka right now and ready to build it...fuck it! I think once I start my new job in the spring hopfully try a vq or 2jz. the ka will fill my needs for now for sure

  • EFISPECIALIST in california did my ECU fuel mapping for my 97 s14 ka-T cost me 500$ but when you don't live near an import dyno?tuner thats what u get.

  • back in the day. this video will never get old.

  • how much boost you runnin?

  • awsome!!!! ka-t doing it up

  • espectacular

  • luv this video!
