  • Ok, i was hoping you were still running the A500 trans, i thought about a 727 but you had to shorten your driveshaft eh?

  • @bobweaver4592 The 727 is shorter actually since it doesnt have all the extra overdrive unit. The driveshaft was about 3" too short, had to get a longer driveshaft from a long box dakota and had it shortened to fit. The shifter will work with a a500 though. Theres a useful reference I used when I did the conversion, it has a diagram which shows all the lengths of the various transmissions... Id post the link but youtube wont let me post the damn link!

    518 = 38"

    727=35"

    500=37.5"

    904=31"

  • hey man, floor shifter. i need details, i have no intention of shifting my 360 w column shift. since drive wont do when your shifting at 6300rpm

  • @bobweaver4592 Its a B&M Star shifter, came with everything needed for the torqueflite, installation was pretty easy. I had no choice because the column shifter wouldnt work with the 727. You can get them at any speedshop or summit/jegs, pretty inexpensive and this model has the ratchet shifting feature. Cant even count how many times I punched the wheel skipping second with the damn column shifter haha
