Colombian orchestrated cumbia (not the classical folkloric form of cumbia) is danced one step forward n one step backwards..similar to vallenato dancing but faster...What the girls are dancing in the video is called "Porro" which is similar to cumbia but it is a diferent genre.

We are talking about music, not food. Cumbia is part of Colombia's folklore and it has been downgraded by Mexicans, Peruvians and Argentines. Cumbia was downgraded ("anacada") by mexicans by adding instruments that are not natural to cumbia and distorting its beat beyond recognition. Bro, this is a basic Cumbia step. My salsa instructor even calls this move basic cumbia step. There are other steps out there which are more "urban" and street style, but a lot of things out there work. If you don't I have a good source, look up Salomon Rivera who is my Salsa instructor here in Orange County , California.
