nope.... and the checking is all pending on whats happening around.... first of all, the lift check is only used when someone is ABOUT to take the puck and suprice with the lift (not a lift, its a hit from underneath).... but a good player wont put his stick there to be lift off.... the locking you only do if you have a mate close, checking someone is rather with a poke/slash against the blade, or just dont give a damn about his stick/puck and go for the body wich you see alot in NHL....
