  • I have both UK released Crawler albums and have loved their music from the start. I was checking out Geoff on You Tube and then had a look at iTunes - well at least a few of their tracks are on there to be downloaded. Great to see people still checking out their stuff. As someone said " Geoff is amazing" - not just that, he's a genuinely nice guy too.

  • Check in to cd universe dot com. "Heard It On The Radio Vol 2". Says they have it in new and used versions. Good Luck

  • Look for the album released in March 2011 titled: "Heard It On The Radio Vol 2" This tune is on it!

  • I think this track IS my favorite track from the 70's And probably of all time . I remember listening to this track in High School . We had days that they would play a local station in a particular classroom . : ) Lucky me . But never found this LP . I think I'm gonna start getting serious about finding it .

  • Amazing band. Anyone remember their OGWT performance? That was amazing. If only someone would post it. Geoff Whitehorn...amazing guitarist. Reminds me in many ways of Kossoff. Soulful bluesy sound. Not as flash as many guitarists but his playing never fails to send shivers down my spine.

  • i saw this line up supporrt the Doobies at the rainbow in 78, they were wonderful, this being their stand-out song

  • if you get a chance listen to back sreet crawler ,, Kossoff was such a amazing guitar player , this is a bit like that 70's stuff i couldnt stomach but anything Free and BSC did was heavy and sold well paul rodgers and kossoff were the team to beat .. James Gang were right there with them

  • I Love this song studio, Live whatever this band should have gone on to bigger fame but anyway geoff whitehorn great guitar and love the sound of the organ with guitar and little reverb from back in that era, Terry Slesser very good to.. again great band

  • I bought a bunch of lp's to cover my wall with, im a 18 year old.. And i searched all the songs i placed against my wall, and how do i love this!!! ^^

  • Eye saw??, Music whirled?? Geez doesn't anybody know how to spell anymore?

  • Great song. I have all their LPs, and also Back Street Crawler.

  • I played this song a lot on a little underground radio station somewhere in LA, some time in the 70's...great song and great memories!

  • Eye saw Crawler live on the tour of this LP. They were fantastic. They opened for Kansas and blew them away. This was a band that really understood that it's a plus to have the bass & drums keep the pulse of seductive rich melody while the guitar and keyboards caress with with subtle, firm measure. It is totally beyond me that the music whirled let them slip away. I have Back Street Crawler along with Stone Cold Sober and the final? Album with"Where Is The Money". I guess that says it all.

  • Saw Crawler live at a club in Colorado way back in 1978. Went out the next day and purchased both Lp's. I am glad i kept these and so are my kids who are in their late 20's. They had me copy both Lp's to Cd format. They also dig the old school songs of the 1970's. Thanks for posting this video !

    Tommy "Gee" Gaston

    (musician) Rockford,IL.

  • Very nice guitar tone! What gear did Geoff use back then? Looks like a swedish-made Halkan´s Telecaster, and Marshall amps.. what about pedals? Sounds like he´s using a fuzz or a booster of some sort.

  • @ terryslesser.....This is the first I have heard of "Crawler" and I will certainly review some "Back Street Crawler" next after reading some of these less than respectful comments. But listening to the live "Stone Cold Sober" absolutely grabbed my attention immediately. The guitarist displayed here, I am assuming is Geoff Whitehorn, is most definitely an accomplished guitarist and fits the sound of this band perfectly.

  • Seen LIVE in 1978 OPEN for ROBIN TROWER , Philly Spectrum... Met Singer in HILTON INN Lobby leaning on a Cigarette Machine..... Those Days were Cool to just CHILL n Magic happens

  • Comparisions = Pathetic. Paul was just so unique just as Geoff is. Pity only one of them is still alive otherwise we could then have twice as much fun

  • Comment removed

  • this band died a fast death because geoff whitehorn could not hold a candle to paul kossoff!

  • Comment removed

  • @terryslesser like u know me at all Back Street Crawler without Koss was a dismal commercial failure...and he does not hold a candle to Robin Trower in Procol either...ehether or not you pray at his alter.Besides I could care less about Paul McCommercial or Racist Roger waters or Gary I have played the same tunes for 30 years Paul Rodgers is the only good guy you mentioned and I still say that his best songs were with Koss.So go stick that candle where it will do you some good .

  • @jayheadj420 hahahahaha...hilarious....havent laughed so much for a long time..

  • @jayheadj420 you forgot to slag Dave Gilmore off

  • @terryslesser Why not! David Gilmour: Not even original Floyd and his put you to sleep lps (Metamucil music).By the way are you such a loser that you stare at your comments like you did something positive with your life. I don't care what you think of my opinion, I personally think this band sucked without Koss.So go back to staring at your name on youtube and feel superior to me. You are still and will always be an anus.Have a wonderful life. HA Ha (I laugh at losers like you)!

  • @jayheadj420 WANKER!

  • @jayheadj420 one word "bollocks"

  • I like that. Even without Koss They were great.

  • Why Geoff is languishing in the truly awful Procul Harum is beyond me. I know every musician needs a gig....but what a waste.

  • haha yes crawlz

  • Saw Crawler on the same bill as Boxer and Moon at the Colston Hall in Bristol back in, probably, 1976...maybe '77? Good times.

  • Had a single of 3 bands Boxer, Crawler and Moon. cant remember where i heard them possibly battle of The Bands in Liverpool. Must see if its lurking in some cupboard somewhere

  • @fish5133 Hi Fish, those three Bands toured together. I saw them in Torquay in early July 1977, I guess you saw them on the same tour.

  • I had the pleasure of meeting the band at Eric's in Liverpool in 1978 on the Snake Rattle and Roll tour. Great band.

  • I saw them at the Rainbow....with 2 other bands,Boxer and Moon

  • i've put some geoff whitehorn on youtube. look for chuck farley.

  • still an awesome song, decades later...

  • Will you look at those deadass motherfuckers in the audience from 2:00-2:20!! God's frozen children!!

  • Like most kids in Britain, watching the Guitarists hands so closely, hoping to learn something.

  • sweet!

  • Hot,wet & sexy >ya thats how i remember you

hope texes is being good for you

    brill voice

  • Speaking of Tony B ; i think i saw him drumming for Taj Mahal in Stockholm some 17 years ago ?

  • Can i find this one on " Snake rattle and Roll " ?

  • I saw them at the bottom Line in NY with about 8 people in the audience and they killed - don't forget the Texas rhythm section Tony the drummer played with Bonnie Raitt for years

  • Great band.

  • awesome band.criminally underrated, probably due to the fact that there was so much great music back then.

    Geoff Whitehorn is so good!

  • only saw terry wilson slessor live once, but i havent forgotten...it was with back street crawler of course, at the free trade hall in manchester.

  • Got a really Isley Bros feel to it - who's that lady?

  • I've been listening to this track for thirty years and never noticed the isley bros similarity! Live and learn or what?

  • also a Donny Hathaway sound ....The Ghetto....Listen to the Bass line

  • The best crawler album by far is "snake rattle and roll" brilliant

  • iz dat geoff whitehorne

  • Yes, it's Geoff Whitehorn.

  • I've got a copy. let me have your details and I'll send it to you, it's brill.

  • this is in the ghetto by donny hathaway essentially, i´m disapointed was looking for koss.

  • The band with Koss was called Back Street Crawler. At that time, he was unreliable and often played poorly. The re-named Crawler seen here, with Geoff Whitehorn, was actually a far better band.

  • fuk off

  • Awesome Post thats video and audio just

    great, a True Rocker

  • Nice stuff , very easy on the ear .

  • picked up a good copy off ebay 6 months ago. if you're still with Old School I bring a copy next time you're on at Steels Club

  • If this is the original line-up then this was Kossoff's Back Street Crawler with the very underated Geoff Whitehorn replacing Koss after he died. Tery Wilson is on bass, Tony Braunagel drums, Rabbit on keygoards and the aforementioned Terry Slesser on vocals.

  • A real gem, who are the other musicians. Slessers vocals are absoloutley superb. Where was it filmed.

Used to love Free but think that Paul Rodgers it too far up his own arse now sellng his soul to join Queen with some dreadfull songs.

  • Saw Kossoff's last gig with the band at the Starwood in L.A. Surprise encore was a jam/Free reunion with Paul Rogers, Kirke, and Boz on bass. Rogers and Slesser traded off and you couldn't tell who was singing if you closed your eyes. Koss looked so happy..but a few days later he was gone. RIP.

  • Must be gettin' old as I too remember seeing Terry and Beckett loads of times in the 70's in the clubs around Newcastle.

Still have the original vinyl from Crawler. Excellent

  • Shanecold, I am so very grateful to you for posting this video. Not only do we get to see a rare gem of Crawler performing live, but Stone Cold Sober is also one of my favorite songs of all time. Even the quality of the picture & sound is excellent. You really made my day with this. Thank you.

  • Had the pleasure of having a drink with him about six weeks ago .He,s having a great time in tenerife, Doing some compare work & still singing .He,s lookinging well & singing well. He was just about to move into a loverly apartment by the sea & said he was very happy .

  • One of my favorite songs from the '70s. I love this band!

  • Great! Haven't heard this song since I was in high school.

  • Terry Slessor used to be the lead singer in our local North East band Beckett who supported Free at The Mayfair, Newcastle in 1973. Hi Janice - I remember that you enjoyed the gig immensely. Paul Rodgers threw his mic stand into the audience and an off-his-face Koss smashed the maple neck off his guitar hitting an amp or speaker stack with it!

He went on to front Charlie who did a rather good debut and second LP "Charlie" and "No Second Chance" and included Terry Thomas.

  • I saw Beckett also support Free at sunderland locarno same tour, and Paul Rogers threw his mic stand into the rear stage screen Koss fell over the speakers came down on him, I was right at the front 3 yards away. awesome. Terry Slessers website has the cds on it.

  • love the video and just loved terry, i loved going to see him and got to become close friends have some fab photos oh him from that time in his life, have you all seen him on Youtube playing with simon kirk still sounds good , vido taken a few years back, where are you now Terry>BabsX

  • Nice tune. Whitehorn as always impresses.

  • Magnificent discovery of old footage.

This album is one I often find myself humming...30 years after its release. What a great group.

  • I <3 Crawler and Geoff Whitehorn's guitar playing, thanks for uploading this. :)

  • Thanks shanecold for the video!

Thanks to fisherenterprises for the link!

Thanks Geoff, Slees, Terry, tony & Rabbit for their great live music!

    All of yours are fantastic!

  • Why ?? Is this song so hard to find ?? I use to have the album

with the snake on the cover (like the stage back drop on this

video) but like a dumb ass, dumped it along with all my other

vinyl L.P.'s when I moved years ago. Thanks for posting - this

version may be as close to the studio cut as we can get.

  • Thanks so much for posting this...saw them at the Mars Theater (W. Lafayette, Indiana) on a show with Nils Lofgren way back in the late 70's. Great band lost to history...I'm consistantly amazed at what pops up on YouTube!

  • WoW Thanks for sharing ,,i love that song.

i believe i may have burned a few to that one.

  • Fantastic... had the pleasure of working with Terry a couple of times over the last couple of years;(both times in Ferryhill, in County Durham)...a real gent....... and his voice is still awesome.

  • Everytime I hear his voice it makes me happy...I agree full with you.

What kind of music Terry is doing today?

  • @shanecold still doing light rock as well as doing a free tribute, on occasions. Think there might be some footage on here of 'Freeway' when Simon Kirke gets up to drum with them.

  • @shanecold still doing light rock as well as doing a free tribute, on occasions. Think there might be some footage on here of 'Freeway' when Simon Kirke gets up to drum with them. Still have one of the greatest rock voices I've ever heard!!
