First song on one of the most incredible albums ever made. Is the drummer out of this world or what? When Ive played this record for friends and told them to listen to the drums, I have to scrape their jaws off the floor.Quite messy, actually. But the drums are just part of it. Is the guitar player IN this world or what? A complete masterpiece from beginning to end. A record to put in a space capsule and sent to other worlds to show them the best music on earth. It's that good. See for yourself
@willieluncheonette Wow! Calm down already! It's a good album but let's be honest. This album's style is not their own. I own it too, but it's just boston's answer to minor threat. The drummer is good but I don't think he is any better than, let's say, earl from bad brains or most metal drummers. If you think that the guitarist is "out of this world", then you need to hear more guitarists. It's a solid album but hardly a masterpiece.
@creepychris11 hey, chris doherty never set out to be a virtuoso, but still he's one of my favourite guitarists! and come on, it's hardcore, it's not like you need to play like malmsteen to do a kickass record, this level of technique is almost as good as it needs to be :)
@TankardAddiction I agree with everything you say, but, what you are saying has nothing to do with the comment I wrote. I was banging out the whole "two chords at two hundred mph" back in the day myself. Trust me... I'm a prime example of "good enough" really being good enough hahahahah!!! It's an important piece of boston hardcore history but "willieluncheonette" needs to ease up on the superlatives.
@creepychris11 ahahah of course. it's a pretty kickass album and decently played, but hes saying something like it's the best album ever and it's excellently played and so on.. he's exaggerating a bit eheh he must be quite a fan of the band! me too, i'm a guitar and bass grinder, let's say 2chords 200mph and a blues scale in the ending, to make it sound like rock n roll.. worked pretty well for now ahah!
@TankardAddiction That sounds good. I seem to find that "the blues" can be worked into everything from acoustic music all the way to grindcore. I'm a big fan of pentatonic heaviness also.
