@SpeakerSett Pretty crazy right. They are called pedicles and they were the very first procedure ever that was used to transfer skin from one part of the body to another. They would cut a flap loose from one part of the body but leave some of the blood vessels intact on one end to keep the flap alive. Then they would sew the loose end to the desired area and wait for it to regrow new blood vessels on that end. once it did, they would cut the end loose from the transfer area and finish....
bringing the entire flap all the way up to the new site. It was a genius idea. These soldiers pictures were the first half way successful attempts ever to do plastic surgery and some of them worked pretty well. Anyhow that was my piss poor explanation of how it worked. IF you go to the website listed in the video it tells each soldiers story and details the attempts the doctors took to fix them. Thanks for commenting.

@jualkyn WW1. Ya it looks so strange. Those folds of skin are called pedicles. It was a way to transfer tissue up to the needed area. Basically they cut loose folds of skin but leave a few blood vessel attached at the bottom to supply the skin nutrients while it forms new blood vessel at the point where it is going to be grafted. Once the new vessels have formed, they cut loose the bottom ones and finish transfering the entire graft from the donor site to the injury site. Its pretty amazing.

@Sevensixseven78 well from looking at these pics again, I am going to assume that they had to cut out other pieces of flesh from other parts of their body to mold it into place into the missing pieces...but still that really looks weird, as if fingers are coming out of his mouth..is this from ww1 or ww2?

@jualkyn WW1. Ya it looks so strange. Those folds of skin are called pedicles. It was a way to transfer tissue up to the needed area. Basically they cut loose folds of skin but leave a few blood vessel attached at the bottom to supply the skin nutrients while it forms new blood vessel at the point where it is going to be grafted. Once the new vessels have formed, they cut loose the bottom ones and finish transfering the entire graft from the donor site to the injury site. Its pretty amazing.

somethin else kinda urcked with the video seven, now don't take this wrong... I was lookin at some photo's the other day and stumbled across the Vietnam Memorial and all the names that were on it..... it's understandable that one would complain because they lost something durin the war. But what about those who never came back from it?... Who remembers the ones who laid down literally everything for this country?... this great country?.... just a thought I wanted to run by ya. google it sometime

Dude... War always been there, and it ever will. Most of the wars are made because of religion, if there was no such things as religion, there would be no fighting only for believance! In my point of view ( I'm not saying that yours is stupid), religion should be there, but in our mind, in our belief, we need to have faith in something, but, if this faith is declaring war! Its not okay! (WW2)
So... The human race will always be what it is now, a simple dust in the whole universe.. ( Im not ath)

@skullfeastdrum Dude I just found this abandoned video project on a school computer and jump drived it. I thought it was cool but as you can see it is not finished. I checked out the website it mentioned and that was pretty cool. It shows all these early attempts at plastic surgery on soldiers.

@skullfeastdrum you're wrong.... like many out there, they believe war is God's fault. on the contrary my friend, as long as MAN exists... there... will.... be.... war..... blood.... pain.... tears..... and no peace.... Before you blame war on religion I suggest you open your damn eyes to see, whether it's religion's fault or not, that it happens either way... and Hitler wasn't a man of religion... he was one that thirst for blood and power... innocent blood.
