You know, initially I hated the tea party - the way the media portrays them I couldn't help but be against them. However, it is a beautiful display of the power of forces in the states. Tea party and the "liberal" majority have been pitted against each other. I'm saddened that unity can't be achieved against the all-powerful corporate strong hold. That's what we are all up against. We are all workers of the world and our anger should be directed towards the wealthiest in the country who retain.

I was a tea-party guy for about 6 weeks. I attended the first rallies long before the general elections. The gatherings consisted mostly of Independents, with smaller groups of Libertarians, those goofy religious Constitutionalists and a tiny number of republicans, no democrats unfortunately. Soon after Obama, the movement became neo-con central. I left after feeling threatened because of my support for Nader and the single-payer system. I'm against war and our tax system, not common sense.

I would say they're different from historical right-wing authoritarians because they're a lot more hostile to social programs. Classical Fascists and Nazis at least supported programs to keep "pure" middle class citizens satisfied and prevent them from rebelling against the upper class.
