  • I'm playing this for school and was wondering what tempo you played it at.

  • Nice horn.

  • I played this solo as a 6th grader, and would like to comment that you have good tone, but breath much too often. Also, while your articulations are executed well, the dynamics could be brought out a little bit more (make your piano softer so you don't have to play so loud for the forte section). Oh, and the 16th note section near the middle of the piece sounded well practiced. Very nice.

  • @Glitter742 u seem to be an expert. please note that the recording digital camera has cut out dynamics. It made sound more even. Lauder parts are recerded more sighlent but sighlent parts came out louder... anyway thanks for comments. I quit playing though....

  • @xrayPL That's a shame. You sounded very good, and I understand that the camera evened the dynamics so the louder parts sound softer, and vice versa, but as any musician will tell you, dynamics can always improve :)

  • @Glitter742 yeah:) I know. Music is a very pessimistic thing... glas is usually half empty - can always improve. Now I compose if you care. Proffesionally!

  • @xrayPL That's cool! I compose too, but it's mostly just piano solos that I play for family and at recitals. What kind of pieces do you write? I've been working on an overture for a concert band, and if you have any advice, I'd love to hear it :)

  • @Glitter742 well... it's no pattern than I can tell... It;s hard to give advice until you see or hear someones work;) Maybe that the best works you create when you write what you want to hear.... whatever it could be;) I compose whatever my profesors want me. Or other people... for their use, not only educational;)

  • Ive got the same horn. F/Bb with stopping or transposing valve a wonderful hand made horn from the 70/80´s

By the way that was great playing!

  • @COPEWA1 many thanks:) it's nice to hear something like this:) especially when you quit playing some time ago:)

  • My band recently played this with a hornist from the Indianapolis Symphony, i believe he was principal, but i have bad memory. It was amazing.

  • you take too many breaths. you don't need to take a breath after every eighth note in the 4th measure. also, work on your slurring. I was looking at the music while listening to you, and you were tonguing where you should've been slurring. that's all. :) otherwise, very beautiful.

  • I'm a French Horn player myself but i have never seen a Horn with 5 valves is this a Triple Horn?

  • @RMG1234567890 no it's normal F/B hoyer:) it has 3 valeves, F/B valve and addinotal valve for playing muted sounds (u dont have to transpose).

  • @xrayPL oh only reason I asked if it was a triple horn was because I saw 5 rotary valves.. the French Horn i play only 4

  • @xrayPL also where's the fun in no transposing?

  • I am playing this piece for an audition with the San Diego Youth Symphony, and you are playing this really well. The only thing you could improve is that most of the song is written in piano

  • @Pieman125125 it was piano but my camere is a photo digital camera:) and youtube just makes the recording even worse:) so please be forgiving:D

  • um....how long have you been playing? cuz im a horn player and im playing this piece and only a few comments. need to have a steady pace and more connected. dont take breaths on the measure lines. other than that right on kiddo. keep on playin!

  • @ZoeNightshade3 i can barely understand what you mean... i take breaths in right places:)

  • @xrayPL I think zoenightshade3 is talking about your phrasing. I thought it was fine, but i'm a flute player not a horn player =__= the phrasing i thought was appropriate. At least you have room to breathe in the mozart piece.. o-o i'm working on the mozart concerto in D and i dont really breathe until the rests that mozart likes to put in lol.
