@Tigerlily21 I totally agree with your assessment. Look at Sally's seemingly, diplomatic "eye-roll" at 0:41 when asked about the Streisand-issue.
I love Barbra to death, don't get me wrong, but Sally Field at the Oscars and presenting for Best Animation (Beauty and the Beast was SO AWESOME!) is SO far removed from the subject of who was nominated in the Director category, and she classily shows she couldn't care less
Off topic, "Prince of Tides" was a good, but oh so damned, depressing film.

Field made her film debut in 1962 with a small part in Moon Pilot. Her first major film role was in The Way West (1967).

It really annoyed me on this awards how everyone was acting like they had to kiss Barbra Streisand's ass for not being nominated for best director. When the hell did the Prince of Tides become such a masterpiece?! I like Barbra Streisand, she's a talented lady but I'm not going to pull the feminist card here. It would be a true injustice if she directred something like Schindler's List and didn't get nominated.
