  • Does anyone know when this was record??

Becoming a super fan, Mark!!! A great melody!! Greetings from Brazil!!

  • I think this man is one the finest writers in our country. I Have been a devotee for many years. Love this song Kudos, Mark!

  • he should really go on an overseas tour - he could sell out here in the uk just with expat aussies. Great talent, he just gets better with age.

  • eddie halsall is my grandad but unfortunatley he has passed.

  • Saw him tonight at Lizottes. He was SO good! I haven't seen him live since about 89, and it's still got it.

  • it,ll come down again someday shakes like fuk somedays

  • chilling song...there is a memorial at the base of the tower and it's true - nobody goes there

  • first time i heard this song was at science works when he sung it at the We built this city play.

great songs he sung but cant say i like him that much

  • Exellent Album Lots Of Great Songs

  • No Mark Seymour standing up for Melbourne's live music sence , Slam Rally don't tell me his a fan of the Brumby

  • This man is truly under-rated as an Australian story-teller! Absolutely fabulous - and the whole CD is superb.

  • a really late response but to clarify, Mark wrote this song for a hybrid musical called "We Built This City" which was about many facets of the building industry. Within the context of the show it was completely about the Westgate collapse as part of a whole scene on the disaster. No subtext here folks!

  • do you know if he was actually at the westgate when it fell?

  • I don't believe so, as he would've only been 14 at the time.

  • @smashedmatt Aren't 14 year olds allowed on the Westgate bridge?

  • The bridge collapsed during construction and I don't think he was a 14 year old constrction worker! Besides, he would've been at school in Benalla at the time (he moved to Melbourne in 1972)

  • Stop the cat fights you desalination freaks.......

Oils and H&C are the best

  • i have to say that i think peter garrett and the oils are better as far as alkl around good song writing but i think that mark and h&c is 2nd

    heart wrenching song.

  • was it really necessary to type that i am glad you have your own opinion but i have mine as well. lets try and act like adults. i am not trying to say that mark Seymour isn't amazing i am just stating that i like midnight oil better.

  • wow balius88 you really are immature arent you. youve got no respect for musical talent

  • why search this music just to rip on it? awesome life

  • i didn't rip on this song you stupid idiot, i was just explaining to funtommy how much peter garrett and the oils sucked.

  • been lucky enough to be part of backing vocals for mark with this song, freaking awesome in person!

  • hear hear and give the man a surfboard and a vb..

  • Agree, just great storytelling about a tragedy. As for the references to Howard, I dought it, though everybody knows what is happening to this country. He wrote a few political songs for H&C though.

  • Don't think this has ANYTHING to do with current times.Mark does a great job recording the moment the westgate bridge fell here in melbourne Australia. No nuances, great storyteller.

  • loudnclear - SORRY - yr offer was overwhelming.. 0430local time...all the bridges are coming down..love

  • best aussie songwriter ever imo

  • Fantastic song! It blew my mind the first time I heard it live in Brisbane. I can't wait for the new album!

  • Mark is a grat songwriter and singer. Very underrated.

  • This is simply classic Mark, Brilliant song in every aspect.

  • revisited this song tonight... my guess; mark seymour inspired by the current howard government's attempt to re-write industrial relations acts on a federal level in australia. i appreciate the stance (mark will always be on the working man's side) but the westgate incident was many years ago - maybe something bit more timely...? ANYWAY AND FOR WHAT IT IS ; GREAT SONG

  • yes yes, but in a way the westgate serves as a symbol for howards nation building the crank up the pace, make the workers pay, fasttracking oportunism military posturing as a sound economist actually on the brink of tragedy .......It is a brilliant metaphor I reckon any way

  • and you are probably right... being a mark seymour fan yet a non australian i will not pretend to know the finer nuances of past australian politics.. mate we are probably on opposite sides of the political divide but seemingly we can agree on mark's immense talent

  • It would be great to see Love is a Heavy Load up here... ... ...

  • mark just keeping writing relevant songs.. man of integrity and immense talent..

  • Great vid. First saw the song performed in Brisbane back in October? last year. Was hooked immediately.
