For gymnastics, that would be the FIG and the age limit is currently 16. The restrictions are different for every sport. For example, in diving, the age limit is 14.

at first i was totally against the chinese winning due to them being under-aged (which, yeah, they were), but some of our american athletes were also under-aged, so I'm not going to flip out over it. @MegaRachelWhite It is unfair because some gymnasts from Russia and the USA were just as good as the chinese gymnasts but they were underage at the time of the 08 games so they were unable to compete in 08. The USA could have used that Rebecca Bross, and Russia could have used Anna Declanaor. People are just upset because other countries have younger gymnasts who are amazing as well. Now I'm not assuming that the chinese gymnast are under age, I'm just saying everyone should play by the rules
It's also been proven that multiple members of the 2000 U.S. Olympic track team used steroids and have been stripped of their medals. Of course, this obviously proves the 2008 U.S. track team also cheated.
It's not a matter of being mad that we may have been beaten by underage athletes. It's the simple fact that there may be several countries who have outstanding young gymnasts who could very well compete at that level, but are abiding by the rules and waiting until they are at least 16. There's a good chance that we have some younger girls here in the US who could have beaten Nastia and Shawn...but they weren't eligible in 2008.

(of course this is about ethics and rules, etc. not MY ego) My adult slowpitch Class B team, ranked 11th in Texas went to a rinky dink tournament about 2 hours into Oklahoma to play. We had to play a team of 15-17yr olds who had on HELMETS! We layed back thinking no sweat. They KICKED OUR BUTTS! - PPPpfffftttt, talk about shame, but gotta hand it to the kids!! :)

For gymnastics, that would be the FIG and the age limit is currently 16. The restrictions are different for every sport. For example, in diving, the age limit is 14.

I am an American born Chinese woman in my early 30s and I'm 100% sure that most people would guess that I am 21 or under. Asian people age well. I was rooting for the U.S. team back in 2008. But I don't think the Chinese team cheated.

at first i was totally against the chinese winning due to them being under-aged (which, yeah, they were), but some of our american athletes were also under-aged, so I'm not going to flip out over it. And hell, it's not like the chinese girls get to keep anything from the medal besides pride. All the benefits like money and stuff goes to their government. So....

@MegaRachelWhite It is unfair because some gymnasts from Russia and the USA were just as good as the chinese gymnasts but they were underage at the time of the 08 games so they were unable to compete in 08. The USA could have used that Rebecca Bross, and Russia could have used Anna Declanaor. People are just upset because other countries have younger gymnasts who are amazing as well. Now I'm not assuming that the chinese gymnast are under age, I'm just saying everyone should play by the rules

It's not a matter of being mad that we may have been beaten by underage athletes. It's the simple fact that there may be several countries who have outstanding young gymnasts who could very well compete at that level, but are abiding by the rules and waiting until they are at least 16. There's a good chance that we have some younger girls here in the US who could have beaten Nastia and Shawn...but they weren't eligible in 2008.

The U.S had a hard team competition because National bronze medalist Chellsie memmel was injured and could only compete on bars, Samantha Peszek, was injured so she couldn't compete at all, and Bridget sloan, 2007 Classic Champion, could only compete on vault!
