Felicity Jones (Ethel Hallow of Season 1 of The Worst Witch; Season 1 of Weirdsister) left her role as Ethel after the 1st season of The Worst Witch because she was home sick and went back home. Katie Allen took over the role of Ethel for the remaining seasons after that and Felicity returned to retrieve her role as Ethel in this series. That explains the difference in her voice and apperance. The role was played by two different actresses.

Its because Ethal was replaced during the second and third season of worst witch by a diffrent actress but the original actress came back for this show

@soccergurl36 the reason ethel was played by felicity in the worst witch series one and katy in series two and three is because felicity had personal problems and had to pull out so they made out at the begining of TWW series 2 that ethel had performed a makeover spell on herself, but since she was vacant again, the producers of wierdsister asked felicity if she'd like to return as ethel in wierdsister and she accepted :D

I think Weirdsister would have been better with Katy Allen as Ethel.

After all she'd played the part for that past 2 seasons of worst witch.. and had made the part her own.

But that's just my own personal opinion.

How old is she supposed to be I dunno, but since this is the original Ethel Hallow, Felicity Jones, she might look way different from the other actress we saw last in Cackle's Academy.

@katy1094 Because felicity jones didn't play ethel the two last seasons of worst witch, and therefore we didn't see her grow. Katie allen had a lighter voice and therefore there is a bigger difference when switching back to felicity...why they did it, i don't know :/ i liked both ethels and they are both beautiful
