  • My Lithgow is really rare. Its a JJNY import and all the numbrs match.JJNY was famous for slapping random parts together. She fires like a charm.

  • @usafisasome very nice. - thanks for your comment - jack

  • my bolt wont stay down, any reason why its such a problem with these?

  • @glynamus I'v never heard of that happening, might just need a really good clean - cheers - jacko

  • Is it possible to own a SMLE in the city? With the permit and all but can you own one if you lived in the suburbs?

  • @Hell6125 You can own firearms in ANY part of Australia it does not matter at all, you just need the license to own them, to shoot them you need to shoot on large private land or state forrests

  • Make sure you clean the rifle extremely well after shooting because its looks a little dirty

  • Nice rifle! I also have an SMLE from WWII. Have you tried grouping and zeroing it? I wasn't hitting anything with mine, but when I took it to a formal range, I got great groups with it (about 1/4 inch at 25 yards). I discovered that, while the rifle is quite accurate, the zero was very far off (about 18 inches high and 9 inches to the right at 100 yards). Now that I've adjusted the sights (it takes a special tool and some patience), it's hitting on target.

  • @fhsreelfilms yea defs mate. this rifle is almost 100 years old and it is still grouping pretty well. from the little paper shooting iv done with it it seems to hit paper out to about 400m fairly easly. im sure if we took it down to the range and sighted it in properly it would do heaps better

  • Great video...great rifle!

  • You do know that the bolt is not spring loaded. The bolt is a cock on close, thats why you think that it is spring loaded. When the gun is fired the bolt doesnt recock until you recycle the bolt.

  • @SamLFisher Right, I was thinking the same thing. Springloaded? I thought. My No.4 is the same action. With the firing pin cocked it is under spring pressure on the sear. Opnening from a decocked postion, it doesn't spring back but it is very smoothe to operate. Much more fun than a mauser action.

  • Very nice video! Thanks for sharing!

  • SWEEEEEET RIFLE my friend! Love that .303 cartridge!! =)

  • hey man, we hav one of these guns, they are really cool. i hav never fired it tho, does it recoil much? i hav fired a .308 and a 12g shotty and i really wanna fire the enfield .303. the only thing stopping me is that it hasn't been fired for about 25 yrs so we don't know if its safe or not, so me and my dad are gonna get it looked at by a gunsmith. CAN'T WAIT TO FIRE IT!!!!

  • @soutwi aye mate, umm no not really not much recoil at all... and ifs its a proper .303 i'd say its safe to fire, those things are built to last

  • @enfiled303 alright thanx mate, just to be on the safe side, dad says we need to get it looked at, also i didn't know about that little hole for the firing pin, thats realy kool. mine is a 1917, no1 mk2, pretty heavy. also love the fishing vids, they r awesome!!

  • had the rifle been oiled? looked bone dry to me but that's probably just the camera not showing it is all. How do you find the sights on the SMLE mate? The ghost ring of the no4 is dead good to use.

  • @jubbles2343 yea it has been oiled mate but the camera dosnt show it up very well. the sights on it are a little hard I find to shoot really acuratly i would prefer a ghost ring, but overall a nice gun.

  • if that gun could talk...

  • @archerkid94 I think it would cry thinking of galipoli.

  • Nice vid
