The photos shown on this video are known to be from the concert where Hendrix was having a very bad acid trip and the show was suposed to be bad. Not sure if this is it or not , but his playing sounds fine from the little I have heard so far.

I was at this show, unforgettabe! The support acts were Soft Machine and members of Traffic without Steve Winwood, I think they called themselves 'Wynder K Frog', something like that. I still have my ticket stubb! I noticed 'Message To Love' in the middle of 'Spanish Castle Magic', not at the time, (pre-Band Of Gypsies release) but on an audiotape I got hold of years later, that my friend re-mastered to CD. Lovely to hear it again - thanks for posting it!

the zeppelin concert was from 69' on the east coast of america.

ive heard a zeppelin concert that was this same sound quality. Did they record this on the ceiling? You can tell something amazing is going on, in both the Zeppelin and this Hendrix show, even though its not nearly soundboard sound quality. something could be said, about keeping some element of a hall sound environment in live recordings. Otherwise sometimes live recordings sound good, but too sterile.

Just read the part in Jimi's biography "Room Full of Mirrors" that said he had done so much cocaine he could barely stand during this performance. Pretty impressive even though this is a pretty lackluster Hendrix performance. I guess he is better at playing guitar than standing...

Hopefully the other filmed concerts from this tour will show up. Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding have both said that during the Experience 69' tour they were followed by a film crew that was hired by Mike Jeffries for the purpose of it being released in theatres. Some bits of concert footage have popped up here and there but nothing as complete as the RAH concert.

The Royal Albert Hall must have been a nightmare for a soundman with the older PAs of the day. Veru echoey...

Just an FYI - This show WAS professionally recorded and HOPEFULLY, one day, the family will finally release it! The 2/24/69 show was also professionally recorded and filmed just like 2/18/69. These two filmed concerts are considered the HOLY GRAIL of filmed Jimi Hendrix material!

@cutis1000 I am told by a good source that it is finished and there are only final legal details to work out before it is released to the public. We're talking all rehearsals and concerts. Keep your fingers crossed. I cant wait to see the full versions of Red House and Bleeding Heart. Also hope that Voodoo Child and Little Wing are available without the psychdelic effects on the screen that the bootlegs have.

@w0rdisbond In this case, my understanding is that they have a 106 minutes of footage collated, but Janie won't release it until the legal battle with the London Times is over, i.e., until the London Times pays up the cash they owe Experience Hendrix as part of the settlement.

@cutis1000 In the April 2010 issue of Guitar World, Jim McDermott of Experience Hendrix said that they had been working on "cleaning up" the footage from BOTH shows and would be releasing it not only on DVD but also IN THEATERS. @cutis1000 "The family" that you are referring to, is actually just Janie Hendrix. She was adopted by Jimi's father in the midst of Jimi's popularity and had only met Jimi on a few occasions (due to touring). She was able to commandeer the Jimi 'catalogue' by having Jimi's father (on his death bed mind you) sign over the rights to Jimi's music, and NOW she won't even help support Jimi's brother who is a struggling "Hendrix cover musician". She infamously sold a Jimi Red Wine product...so lame
