I think ecocentrism is better than anthroocentrism. I believe if we keep destroying animal species, trees and, in short, ripping the world apart for our needs, we'll eventually have the same fate. So trying to harminize with nature is better than destroying it for our short term needs.
@vgman94 In terms of environmental philosophy, I'd have to agree. But, we can never stop viewing the world through human eyes, through human values so there is absolutely no sense is speaking to the contrary.
Humanity MUST be considered the dominant and superior life form on Earth. Does that mean we have a right to plunder the world as we do currently? Nope. In fact, as the supreme species on the Earth we have a DUTY to protect it.
@LessthanJake14 I disagree. I believe we can evolve out of this superiority complex. I disagree that we're the "supreme" species on the planet, but we are the most powerful (supreme means God-like to me, which humanity is not, in my eyes) and I completely agree that we have a duty to protect our planet and it's species.
