  • ¥T

  • Loved it!! Glad I found you-actually by accident.

  • Thanks katiedid6.Welcome to my channel. Been on the down low with making vids latley, but I'll be back around eventually.:)

  • Following the monkey... Yes indeed some of our fellow humans who commit vile and ill-deeds, will look for blame to be placed elsewhere! I suppose its like a survival instinct. Because people like that know there time is short!! HAH Great vlog Momo, sorry i was late...... :D happy friday morn!

  • Thanks cooksterz, hope your havin a good weekend.

  • Good Job Momo! Sorry I'm just getting to this.

    (((Hugs)))

    ~Mimi

  • Thanks. No worries. :)

  • Excellent! If anything, it highlights how (ignorant and unrealistic) conservative "norms" can be used to make anyone but Nuns walking in teams at Noon on the High St look like they were "asking for it".

  • lol. "Nuns...." good metaphore.

  • I don't know how I missed this one but I'm sorry to be so late in getting to it!

  • No worries. :)

  • So a women may decide to dress provocative. So she may flirt. So she may have some people think she has "loose morals". This should not give anyone the ok to rape, beat or kill her. Such defense tactics should be denied in court. Maybe I'm naive.

  • there are NO acceptable excuses for raping any person. court? the institution to protect illegaLaws and surpress common sense and decency.

  • Yep, that's about it!!

  • It's my own fault that I enjoyed this video and it's sharp, insightful commentary. After all, I surfed over to your channel knowing full well the risks involved and I failed to click on the stop button. Also, I did not put up a struggle as my hand instinctively reached for the mouse and clicked to give it 5 stars. One might even argue that my actions here give away that I was asking for quality content.

    I FEEL SO ASHAMED!

  • Oh Curt its not your fault.lol.

  • Thank's sweetie

  • Thanks for watchin.

  • Monkey Trial!!

    Peace

  • Very sharp stuff - funny how it gets turned on the victim by defence lawyers & by society at large. Why? Seems plain to me that some wider societal goal gets met by making victims ashamed of being attacked.

    (status quo = FAIL)

The victim-blamers are the ones that earn the stigma here, just like the perps.

  • If Mr. Smith contrived to have his money stolen by force, his insurance company should charge him with fraud, eh? :)

  • LOL, good one mvye.

  • I can confirm that line of questioning is chillingly accurate. Though I'm glad to see such an important social issue broken down in a way that's very easy to understand and empathize with. Excellent video.

  • Thanks ns.

  • You sure make a point.. :}

  • Sad but true, well done

  • Thanks FBRK8R. How have you been?

  • Underworked & overpaid ;>)

  • Excellent video!!!

  • Thanks lfa.

  • lol...nicely done.

  • Thanks js. luv your artwork btw.

  • AAaaaaah..... lawyers! LOL ;-)

  • LOL.;)

  • interesting anecodote there. i dont really think thats a prevalent social view though. i think the reverse spin put on victims is just an example of the absence of ethics and values of most attorneys.

  • I wish I could believe that to be true. Many survivors experience victim blaming from ppl in their lives, family, friends, law enforcement, and even professionals from various fields.

  • very good.

  • Thanks tls.

  • Too true. Nice job.

  • Thanks tlg

  • I bet Mr Smith was wearing shiny shoes too! And a wedding ring, made of ... Gold!

  • Oh my gosh a wedding ring made of gold!

  • This is really cool & makes alot of sense - wyle

  • Thanks wylie

  • Bloody marvellous.

  • Thanks wyllie.

  • Myth:

Women ONLY report rapes to get even with men and protect their reputation. ONLY... that definetely is a myth, infact i don;t even know if that's a myth at all. i've never heard someone say all rape accusations are by bitter women getting revenge. as for the FBI stats, they mean nothing to me. i think it happens alot but i also think men get away with rape too.

  • Excuse my typo, only should be omitted from that sentence obviously... I don't see that any factual information I throw your way will dissuade you from your opinion, though I am curious were you got your information. I will have to agree to disagree at this point.

  • dissuade me from what opinion?... i didn't disagree with you, i just said you've only presented one side of a problem. besides your "factual" information" is based on government statistics. it's second hand information. my information isn;t 2nd hand, i.e observation of human nature, we hurt those who hurt us. hell hath no fury like a person scorned. no fform of punishment is to much for the human species to dish out. women falsely accusing men of rape DOES happen. or do you completely disagree?

  • Again I don't remember saying that this never happens. I distictley remember stating that it happens at the same percentage at which ppl are falsly accused of other crimes. We just completely disagree about that percentage and the validity of research as there is more than just FBI stats.

  • My information is based on years of education, research, as well as first hand knowlegde. I also know that these issues are real for male and transgender sexual assualt survivors, not just women and straight ppl.

  • personal experience is only one source, and not always an accurate one. Just because one person had a few first hand experiences in their life does not neccecarily mean that the next hundred or more ppl have had this same experience. So I'm not sure how a person can know something is prevelant soley based on their experiences alone as the only source. There is a whole big world out there.

  • It seems like you have had a very real experience for you in your life and I'm not invalidating that.

  • that was my original point, just that the other happens so why not show that side of the argument too? clearly because you don't think it's as important. seems you have a bias towards one side of the spectrum. you say you have alot of experience with survivors and what have you but really you don;t offer anything new on the subject. like what are the environmental factors that lead to rape in the first place

  • I chose to specifically address Victim Blaming. The "other side" of that topic is people being supportive of sexual assault victims. If I do a video on the legal end of sexual assault cases I'll be sure to bring up both sides. I'm afraid you would still disagree with me though.lol.

  • Myth:

Women report rapes to get even with men and protect their reputation.

    Fact:

According to the FBI less than 2% of all reported rapes are false, same percentage for false reporting of other crimes.

  • you believve evverythinng the FBI tells you? you think they are somehow inccapable of human error/bias?

  • Every one is capable of error and I don't base my ideas on one source. I have a lot of education and actual experience with sexual assault and domestic violence survivors.

  • Common sense judgement: there are some women who have falsely accused men of rape, those men have been prosecuted & had to serve the entire sentence without being aquitted.

  • Hmmm I don't remember saying that this never happens. I distictley remember stating that it happens at the same percentage at which ppl are falsly accused of other crimes. We just disagree about that. As for never aquitted, there is a flip side to that as well: Cases where the perp got off, but was actually guilty.

  • yeah we disagree that FBI stats are accurate in any way. "As for never aquitted, there is a flip side to that as well: Cases where the perp got off, but was actually guilty."

umm.. you're just repeating what you said in the video.. that was what you were talking about, that's why i said there was the other side. you shared A perspective, i said there's another side to it, you've then "informed" me that there is another side and stated your original perspective, like it's something i don't know.

  • which shows perfectly how stuck you are to that one perspective.

  • Ok now your putting words in my mouth that are not in the video. I did not say in the video that I was speaking of cases where perps got off but were guilty or any other out come of a case. What I did was addressed the victim blaming many survivors face when they tell others of their assault. I stated that Mr Smith was an example story of Victim blaming. You on the other hand have choosen to discuss the legal aspect of rape cases.

  • Yes there is always much debate around stats and studies, FBI or not. One must use critical thinking. I have looked at a lot of stats, studies (from BOTH sides of the topic),as well as having experience with many survivors over the years. I have made an educated and well informed opinion on the topic. Which your welcome to go through your life disagreeing with. From where I sit it seems you are looking through a narrow perspective now that you mention it.

  • We will likley never agree on this aspect of this topic. So it seems there is no where left to go with this conversation.

  • you use all the right words, until you're bias comes out.

  • i repeated what you said in your comment, not the video. to say that you weren't saying the guy got off in the case used in the video is just clutching at straws. you're clearly showing that the law has no interest in the accused which means he's off the hook, i.e got off. what do you call a guy who is falsely accused of rape? a victim? what's another word for accuse? blame?

  • You two are talking at cross purposes.Separate

but equally valid points.Momo is talking about

societal reaction to victims and you are talking

about false accusations.I don't see how one

    negates the other.False accusations happen.Victim

    blaming happens.

  • Recently someone I KNOW is innocent has been

falsely accused.I do think there is a pc trend

to sanctify victimhood and vilify the accused

Is all sexual assault the same?Is there NO victim

complicity or responsibility no matter the murky

    circumstances?

  • i've been using alan watts quote alot recently... "The sense of wrong is simply failure to see where something fits into a pattern, to be confused as to the hierarchical level upon which an event belongs". everything has a cause, people do not just decide to become rapists out of thin air. it is either in us inherently just waiting to be brought out OR something in our environment turns us to do it. p.s by "us" i mean humans.

  • Based on on your comment below I think your asking me? Your talking about the legal end? It is too much to write here I will PM you the info on the legalities of it in reference to Criminal Prosecution and Civil Prosecution, and the degrees of sexual assault. Hope its helpfull.

  • if you think i'm opposing the perspective in this video you are grossly mistaken. other perspectives are important, especially in this case as someone being falsely accused of rape is equally as important as the issue presented. funny, i thought my perspective was made clear. i guess i should get used to the fact that no matter how clear i feel i'm making a point it can always be misunderstood by those with a fixed perspective.

  • Yes I got that.Sorry, my fault.I was actually

addressing the second half of my comment to Momo.

Are you saying that I have a fixed perspective?

Because that wasn't what I was trying to say.I am

all about the other perspective in this debate.

  • not at all, i thought your comment about the PC trend of "sanctifying victimhood" was excellent. but again i feel i have to say that i am not saying i feel no sympathy for a victim of rape, far from it but at the same time i also feel the rapist themselves are a victim of society. and to contradict myself even further if it was my gf that got raped i'd feel like killing the guy who did it.

  • It's a bitch of a subject.

I think you are doing a good job demonstrating

the confusion of issues and feelings that

    surround such subjects:)Always interested in

    your observations.

  • Your telling me what I'm saying I mean is not what I mean. That makes it impossible to share perspectives, or was that intentional like the rhetorical questions? Just because I'm not saying your 100% right doesn't mean I don't understand the point you made, just don't agree 100%.Can you not accept we agree that both subjects are important, but disagree on how I "should" have conducted my video? Its my channel I'll make vids how I want and so can you on your channel.

  • you don't agree 100%? i don;t know what that means, you either recognise that the example in the video could just have easily have been the man being "harassed" due to false accusations or you don't. i'm just saying that to anyone with any sense you're clearly biased, for whatever reason. of course you can make biased videos all you want just don;t expect everything you say to be taken as gospel.

  • I'm done trying to explain it to you. Your free to go harrass someone else now with your black and white concepts.

  • Maybe you wouldn't be such a panicking juggler if you eased up on the shrooms! Did you even pay attention to her video? Are you taking side with rapists?

  • It disgusts me how the courts work and even some people, who decide to blame the victim. I was actually talking about this lately due to some of the rapes that have been in the news. And what Bill O' Reilly said when that girl was raped, was horrible. Great video. Point well made.

  • good video.

  • You hit the nail on the head Momo! It is a sad situation when the victim is unjustly made to feel like they did something wrong!

  • Very funny! way to put it in a different context. good to see ya

  • is the video were the girl just accuses the guy of rape because she's bitter for some reason coming next?

  • Then I guess I'm guilty.

  • Hmmmmm.... that's it- no more donations to anything. And I will dress like a bum going forward. Let's hear it for 3rd world countries.

  • good one,((smiles))good to see ya girl

  • You've hit the nail on the head, muh dear.

  • Well done. It's a shame that you even have to point this out. There are certainly things that can be done to avoid becoming victimized, but crimes are committed by the criminals, not the victims, period.

  • Exactley.

"crimes are committed by the criminals, not the victims, period. "

  • I dont have enough money to get robbed.

  • i have a suit4ya! no charge*

    *shipping+handling=not,inc.

    ...luded.

  • That was brilliant and applies to many different situations.. you are so sharp.. I swear..It applies to the "grilling" I got over a youtube hater as well.."if you say things that make people angry, well you are just asking for it..." right? ;) Overwhelmingly brilliant!

  • Thanks Alter..Yeah I think it can be applied to many things, harassment & stalking (cyber or otherwise), domestic violence, and all forms of abuse....

  • You make philanthropy sound so dirty :)

    But seriously, great vid.

  • Great vid Momo!!! I'll bet Mr. Smith didn't even have his pants pocket where his wallet was buttoned up. He might not even of had a button at all!

  • Awesome video Momo. "You mean to tell me that you did not even try to hide the bulge of your wallet in your front pocket Mr. Smith? Shame on you!"

  • I have blamed the victim, once. But teenage girls hitch hiking never was a good idea, even if I shouldn't have said it.

  • Yes there are things people can do to try to lessen the possiblity of a perp committing a crime against them, but in my opinion it does not make the victim at fault or deserving of a crime/assault committed against them. The perp is the one committing the crime, the one doing wrong. Though culturally we have a tendancy to put most of the responsibility on the victim.

  • On more of a reviewer note, this was sooo cool. Great editing in the dialog part, and the seriousness was perfectly underlined by the humour. Not anybody could pull that one off.

  • Thanks not2tees. :)

  • BRILLIANT.

  • thanks Momo. another importanTopiCovered brilliantly.

but what a shame it is people can not live by common sense alone; what's worse there are people who choose to be assholes instead of simply decent people. how hard is it for us to rid this world of ignorance and the scum?

  • Thanks Eli...

    Well said

  • Terrifying. That's why all women should learn self-defense. If a potential rapist thought that he might get his "family jewels" ripped off, he reconsider.

  • indeed...

and one thing I've never understood....

  • Indeed.

  • lol okay that was a good one,

  • I really don't care for lawyers.

  • lol..

  • Nicely done!!

    2reds

  • Excellent vid - just puts into perspective just how stupid blaming the victim is.

  • Oh how I missed that red curtain :D

  • Lol, after being moved for over a month now I finally got around to hanging it back up.

  • hmm interesting video.

  • LMAO brilliant again

  • I say throw Mr. Smith in jail with all the hooligans! He obviously wants it!!

  • Of course as every one in a suit wants to be robbed...right? lol.

  • interesting point. and sadly, i know this crap happens. i worked at a law office for far too many years :|

  • I'm sure you've seen a thing or two over the years.

  • awsome video. crap like that caused me to punch a policeman in the face after he insulted a female friend of mine with the same bullshit.

  • Thanks Mathias, too bad it takes that much to get some peoples attention.

  • the last thing a rape victim (even if the rape was unsucessful) needs after being in such a situation is anyone blaming her for what happened.

I was lucky with the judge but I would do it again. (usualy I despise violence in any kind of way, but that kind of stuff lets me loose my temper realy bad).

  • Well said.
