@nenzi671 Well it may seem like whining but I won't be to critical. The reason is, in 1994 or 1996..particularly 96 he should have won the O. He was better and the best should win...but many times in life it doesn't work that way. He wasn't as big as Dorian but that doesn't mean he wasn't better. ISH happens.
His best shot was in 1999, unfortunately that was the best olympia ever ... just my opinion

Not all the athletes that deserve a prize recieve a prize. But all of those that built a great career in bodybuilding receive our recognize. I have teenage friends that like to be called "Chris Ferrigno" or "Alex Priest", that must be seen as a MAJOR prize. They ADMIRE this guys - some are out of the stages for 10 maybe 15 years now... but they are still icons of the sport... athletes to inspire the young bodybuilders.

It just deflates the sport and makes the lifters LESS awesome to the normal person watching. Go show a pic of an elite bodybuilder to your mailman or neighbors kid or the grocery checkout girl and ask them to say the 3 words that come to mind... they will all say steroids, and will all be LESS impressed bc of it. Recently I read a long interview with Nasser El Sonbaty and according to this in 1997 he almost beat Dorian at the Olympia where Dorian showed up only with an impressive lower back, not much more. According to him the whole judging was all about conspiracy, all set up before competition and stuff. He sounded even more devastated than Shawn. He couldn't let go coming back to that subject over and over again.

The bottom line is Shawn and Kevin were robbed time and again. Their physiques are balanced, symmetrical, and powerful. And yet somehow managed to lose the Olympia every single time in favor of guys that were the exact opposite. This is bodybuilding, we should reward what LOOKS good, not what is just "big" and thats it. Kevin and Shawn are what bodybuilding is supposed to be. Ofcourse everyone will have an opinion but looking at them, you know very well THEY DESERVED IT AT LEAST ONCE.

@jxk2790 yes, from 94 to 97 when dorian didn't deserve the crown, ray in 94 & 96, levrone in 95, sonbaty or ray in 97, flex in 98 instead of coleman.... hmmm, could go either way on that one but flex had come close in other years so perhaps they should have gifted him that year, and then coleman in 99, and beyond.
