And yes I've read the manga, but you have to remember, those aren't the real Negato and Itachi with their actual strategic skills, that's just Kabuto taking advantage of their abilities and cannot be used as an example for a real battle between them. Emotionally, itachi is the best naruto character. He was able to kill his clan and only allow his brother to live because he couldn't kill his beloved brother.

After all that itachi still stays calm and doesn't go crazy and start freaking out like sasuke did. He kept his head through all of this and was still able to give so much power to naruto then fight sasuke and could control the entire match because of how strong he was.

Itachi is like on the same level as a kage.

OK this is how it is I will settle this Itachi/Pain debate once and for all. Yes Pain is powerful and all since he supposed to be the "leader" or some "god-like" figure. But he has his limits and weaknesses and that is genjutsu he was taught by Jiraiya and so he was never proficient with genjutsu and so that's why Jiraiya was able to trap him in genjutsu, so imagine what Itachi(basically the god of genjutsu) can do to Pain using his Tsukyo.

The Demonic Toad Song binds and seals the mind of ANYONE that hears it. You might as well be saying that everyone in the Narutoverse that has an ear is weak to it. Pain heard it and got trapped, Nagato on the other hand wasn't affected by it.

We've only seen auditory Genjutsu work on Pain. We've never actually seen how an ocular illusion (which Itachi specializes in) would work against the Rinnegan, so you're only making an assumption.
