I hate to be the fakester of the bunch. But this video is misleading at best. The laptop is not controlling the gun/turret in any way. Only recording video from the webcam sitting atop it. Directional and firing control is being handled through a R/C car remote control and receiver combo. Using the Speed function to aim the turret {fwd/rev=left/right} and the steering = fire.

So its not really a sentry gun at all, because it lacks automation. Just a remote turret.

You are correct although I never claimed it was ever automated. A sentry is essentially a lookout so i figure I can still get away with the name. :P Its controlled with a airplane radio, the aileron channel controls the turret motion and the throttle channel pulls the trigger.
