sorry i ran out of characters but she basicaly get same skin care as teh others except shes in clothing whenever she is out because her skin is quick to redden even on milder days
hello i love your dogs, i have chinese cresteds but recently i had a spotted one shes so fair skinned i get problems with her even on mild days outside so she has to wear a vest most of teh time, now im not sure if its down to the vest wearing but she seems more prone to blackheads then the darker coloured hairless, she has quite a sizable group of them around her neck and on her outer thighs on teh back, she gets clean vests regular clean bedding daily abathevry week moisturised 2wkly
my hairy hairless has a lot of facial hair. I shaved the face like you normally would but I left the crest. The problem is that it hangs over his eyes. What should I do? Trim it back? Would that look dumb? Or should I just let it grow out long?
hello-we got ours from the animal shelter and didnt know a thing about him, so I got him used to the sound and feel with a vibrating mobile phone and took him to the groomers to play. at the second visit he was ready-everything, but the face. 3 month later we groom him at home and he seems to like it :) holds his lil face up and loves to be *pretty*
ok so my first chinese crested is ariving this friday, travaling by plane, he is a hairy hairless and i dont really know how to shave them, so do u think that i should try to shave a couple of time to get the hang of it or get the groomers to do it and tach me a bit better first?
@beth10zero Hi there, congrats on the new little one. I would suggest that you and your puppy learn together. :-) Make sure you get a good trimmer. My new favorite is the Wahl Chromini. It stays very cool and doesn't knick. What I want to write is long so here comes a couple of more posts....
i got spike now and i use razzors, only because he was 4 months old when i got him and thats what his old oner used, he is 10 months old now and the razor isnt doing it great, it leaves hair on his back and its wot even do is legs or face and i dont have enough money to buy dog clippers at the moment, so is there anything ican do?
Hopefully your puppy's breeder has been getting them used to grooming so you won't have to have a lot of work. But one trick I have learned is to glob some peanut butter on something and let the puppy lick it while you shave. It will save you a lot of wrestling if they are still getting used to trimmers. if they are scared of the trimmers, take time to let them get used to the sound and feel of them without actually using them.
@beth10zero . Hold them near the puppy while they are on and give the puppy lots of praise and treats. I would even touch them with the trimmers while they are on just so they can adjust.
For you, try shaved the less than intimidating areas first, like the muzzle and neck, away from the lips and eyes until you get more comfortable with the trimmers. Just make sure you go lightly over the skin and pull the lose skin tight! Good luck!
hi there, your dogs are truly beautiful. Just a quick question...i'm guessing they have no whiskers does it bother them? and also i am going to pick up my new baby on wed as i have never owned a crested before ...i am sooo excited. but when do i start grooming...he is a hairy hairless thanks xx
Congrats on your new baby. You should start grooming as soon as you can so that your puppy is used to being groomed. Sometimes they are scared of the trimmers and it takes some work to get them used to them. Just be patient and don't give in! Nope, it does not bother them not having whiskers.
Can you recommend a virtually silent trimmer that I can use on my hairless? i have a basic trimmer and my hairless freaks out from the sound making grooming impossible.
Thank you! I breed very rarely. I show and only breed when I need something to add to my own group here. I am planning a couple of litters for this year though! You can check out info on my dogs' site.
You can try Ebay. A lot of times they will have refurbished ones avaliable on there. If you can not find one there, find a hairdresser who would be willing to order you one. They are only avaliable to hairdressers so they can be hard to come by. But if you know someone who does hair they could probably order a new one for you. Or if your lucky, sell you an older one for a little cheaper.
You probably will not be able to get all of the hair completely off. The best thing to do is get a good trimmer. The very best is a Wella Contora. Its very small and quiet and never gets hot. Hope that helps!

does like shaveing them hurt them?
she doesnt look in pain but i was just wondering about sensitive spots
lilacbabyxoxo 2 years ago
No it doesn't hurt. Take a beard trimmer and run it over your own skin to see. As long as you are careful around the lips and eyes its no biggie!
