  • Excellent vid, great locations and filming. I was motivated to search for 5690 because she's coming to the Weardale railway in October on a special - the first steam excursion up the Weardale line for many years! Many thanks.

  • @NHR2020 many thanks, pleased you enjoyed it. Must try to be at the Weardale when shes there

  • You can't beat the thunderous roar of a Jubilee in full cry. Excellent.

  • Cheers. The Jub has been a great performer in recent months.

  • Great location and panning really enjoyed, passed Beattock many times by road in my working life as a hgv driver, would love to have passed it as a fireman

  • Many thanks Vic. Sadly we don't get many opportunities to see steam on Beattock, and with video the traffic noise is a bit obtrusive. I'm sure you'd have been rather busy as a fireman over there.

  • Thats all fanastic to watch, thank you for sharing it.

  • You're welcome.

  • Deadly! Especially that really really long shot of the Beattock climb. You certainly searched out great locations.

Leander is one mighty fine engine. I was thinking as I heard the traffic noise about what is it that makes the noise of a steam engine in full flight so pleasing to the ear - musical and somehow talking to you (at least for people like me) but the noise of passing traffic is so intrusive? Would be an interesting psychological study!!!

  • Thanks Hugh. You're absolutley right about the traffic noise, but unfortunately I haven't yet found anywhere around Beattock where you can eliminate it.

  • Many thanks Austin. I think it's the first time I've been at Beattock and it's not rained!
