Should parents let a 8 year old with a dirty mouth play COD? I heard a kid swearing a lot and then heard him say he was 8, so I reported him. Normally, I don't care if someone is swearing, but if they are that young they shouldn't be even playing online, even if their parents don't mind the violence in the game.
woody is so right! the higher your grades and the more homework you do the more parents don't care what you do, not only for gaming but also staying out late on a school night or missing a day of school to go skiing!

When I first got my laptop an spent a lot of time on it, my parents would get mad and make me get off, even though I have straight A's. After about a year, they realized that even with all my time on my laptop, I still got straight A's and am still in very good shape. They now let me be on my laptop all I want and don't really question it, because I still keep good grades and stay fit. The secret is to confront them about it like an adult, and give you a chance.

If she thinks what her friend's opinions of her are greater then her own thoughts, then she has peer judgement issues which may effect your self-esteem on the long run. (Cont'd from last post) I could still play on Friday's, and most Friday's I would normally quite a lot. Looking back on it, this was the best thing i could have done, because it enabled me to focus on school work and get amazing grades, which has enabled me to study at an extraordinary university. Regarding the giving up of gaming during the weekdays, it wasn't as bad as you would think, and it all pays off in the end, If you WORK HARD you will be rewarded. :) Hopefully this helps :D.

Hey, I have an xbox and everything and I can play things like Skyrim, Mass effect, COD, however I cannot talk to other people in COD lobbies and stuff. This is bad because I never really play xbox with my xbox friends because they are not my rl friends, They are just people that I have known for a long time. I find my similarities with the people of the gaming community like people from youtube, however I am considered a mega gamer by everyone I know except for a couple people.
To support what woody said: husbands, there shouldn't be any chore left to do before you play games. Dishes, laundry, cleaning rooms, sex, ect. Children-homework done, dishes, garbage, clean room, ect. and willingly keep it under 2 hours for weekdays and they'll be more likely to let you stay up all night on friday/saturday. Don't ever get to the point when they yell at you, and if they want something-it is just a game and you can come back later, just chillax and see what they want.

@TheCMAFX 2 hours is not a lot. Supposing it takes half an hour to get ready for school, and you get 8 hours of sleep. Then you will have right around 8 and a half hours to do homework and whatever else. Now, in highschool there is a lot of homework, but in elementary there is little to nothing, and not too much in middle school. Your homework could take you only an hour and a half, so that is tons of time.

When I first got my laptop an spent a lot of time on it, my parents would get mad and make me get off, even though I have straight A's. After about a year, they realized that even with all my time on my laptop, I still got straight A's and am still in very good shape. They now let me be on my laptop all I want and don't really question it, because I still keep good grades and stay fit. The secret is to confront them about it like an adult, and give you a chance.

(Cont'd from last post) I could still play on Friday's, and most Friday's I would normally quite a lot. Looking back on it, this was the best thing i could have done, because it enabled me to focus on school work and get amazing grades, which has enabled me to study at an extraordinary university. Regarding the giving up of gaming during the weekdays, it wasn't as bad as you would think, and it all pays off in the end, If you WORK HARD you will be rewarded. :) Hopefully this helps :D.

Hey, I have an xbox and everything and I can play things like Skyrim, Mass effect, COD, however I cannot talk to other people in COD lobbies and stuff. This is bad because I never really play xbox with my xbox friends because they are not my rl friends, They are just people that I have known for a long time. I find my similarities with the people of the gaming community like people from youtube, however I am considered a mega gamer by everyone I know except for a couple people.

To support what woody said: husbands, there shouldn't be any chore left to do before you play games. Dishes, laundry, cleaning rooms, sex, ect. Children-homework done, dishes, garbage, clean room, ect. and willingly keep it under 2 hours for weekdays and they'll be more likely to let you stay up all night on friday/saturday. Don't ever get to the point when they yell at you, and if they want something-it is just a game and you can come back later, just chillax and see what they want.

@TheCMAFX 2 hours is not a lot. Supposing it takes half an hour to get ready for school, and you get 8 hours of sleep. Then you will have right around 8 and a half hours to do homework and whatever else. Now, in highschool there is a lot of homework, but in elementary there is little to nothing, and not too much in middle school. Your homework could take you only an hour and a half, so that is tons of time.

@coldblood333100 4 oclock, bball practice till 6, at 6 i get home, and would watch the news/discovery/comedy central/ till 7, 7 i have dinner, then 8 i do homework till about 9 or 10, then i brush my teeth and sleep, now that hour is when i would normally play video games or watch TV (usually watched tv) but that hour was more then enough, to play 2+ hours of video games on a weekday, that means you have to be sitting inside doing nothing man, not a good way to live, trust me
