this song was perfect. it just encapsulated the entire story of Shattered Memories ever so perfectly. The song helped us understand Cheryl and everything she had been through. At the end of the journey, this song helped us put together all the pieces of the puzzle that was Cheryl Mason.

It would explain the antagonistic nature of characters such as Dahlia and Kaufmann, and the portrayal of Heather and her father playing the heroes in their almost adventurous descent into the mysterious town of Silent Hill.

@lovebyink21 there's two different timelines. there's the shattered memories timeline, which is stand-alone. it's it's own game. whereas the ending of the first silent hill where the incubator gives harry a child, is the legit one. because that girl grows up to be heather, who's the protagonist of silent hill 3. this game isn't canon, but it's damn good.

@XRulerOfHellX Ah.. its okay... The combat system is different, the graphics are meh, and no you have to worry about your stamina as well as you health. Plus the Protagonist can use, i guess you can call them temporary weapons like t.v's and toasters. This game was meant for the PSP, so if your playing it on PS2 it's gonna be a little weird. But I'll let you find out yourself..
okay, ive asked this a few times, but i really want to clarify. this is a 'what if' game, im assuming, that instead of silent hill 1 harry died, so nothing ever happened? cause so many things are different like kauffman being alive etc.... so, its not cannon to silent hill 1 and 3?
@dreadeddan93 yeah, this is pretty much a "What if harry died in the car accident, and Cheryl survived" kinda game. Thinking on it that way, you COULD say that it follows the ending where harry "Dreamed" the whole silent hill affair, and ends with him dead in the car.
But yes, it isn't canon to the first game's ending with Heather and third game's storyline.
This song is not as much creepy but depressing and deep thinking inducing. The piano is depressing, yet calming. The calming factor allows deeper than usual thinking, and connection to the song is not uncommon, adding to these effects. The song is one of which i use when i am stressed, need to think, or when i'm upset or bothered. The song does not always have a depressing effect on all people, but that effect would be more common to the people who know what the song is for and who can relate.
It may be VERY different from the regular Silent Hill series...but it was still emotional and pretty good, the gameplay might've been meh, in my opinion, but the music and the storyline made up for it. <3

Not going to spoil anything, but to those that have finished it, they must also think this is possibly the greatest game ending ever. Possibly even better than silent hill 2. I thought the running sequences were pretty shitty the first time through, but when I discovered that harry is meant to be protrayed as a coward, I thought it was just fucking genius.

This game is beyond underrated. People despise the gameplay and the "non horror chase scenes" compared to the other Silent Hills, which pisses me off more than anything.
I don't think this game was aiming to be horror, it was more aiming to be a psychological/emotional destroyer more than anything else. It MAKES you feel the characters pain, especially at the end. In my opinion, that emotional pain is much more fun and worth playing than a simple horror story.
@Xjustin3009X I absolutly agree with you, I just did a walkthrough today of this game and I had to try my hardest not to cry at the end 'cuz it would end up on their. It's still uploading at the moment, the qulity isn't very good tho :/ but I don't have the right tech, so I had to use my laptop. It's just re imagining of the first game, plus wasn't this done by a different company? ALL Silent Hill games have a psychological perspective, that's why it usually hits even harder at the end of the game. This game just pushed it even further. I haven't really heard an actual legitimate reason yet to call this game poor besides a few tiny flaws.
@Xjustin3009X The psychology involved in Shattered Memories was based on events that were presented like a slideshow, in that you collect the items to the correlating position to experience each individual aspect of insanity from someone that wasn't Harry Mason (or atleast used different voices from places far away from Silent Hill). The Original was much more subtle, everything from the monsters, the poetry, and the puzzles were designed to specially fit the story instead of showcasing.
@Gjkl345 Thus why it's a re imagining and not a remake. Each variation of the first game has their high points. The originals brought on definite horror and was a masterpiece in how it performed it. Shattered Memories was more focused on psychological horror instead of straight up 'scare you to death'. It's almost not possible to compare the two games since they both have very different personalities to begin with. I found both games incredible in their own ways, separately.
@Xjustin3009X I disagree with the "scare you to death" part. It had many moments that represented the obscurity of it's guest and the emotions involved to the beings or vessals venerating Silent Hill's form. In that way, it's much more subtle, much more psychologically horrifying then Resident Evil or Shattered Memories. The storyline alone for Silent Hill 2 proves my point. Shattered Memories actually downplays this by stopping the sequence and bringing you back into reality for brief moments.
@Xjustin3009X What I'm saying is that both games are great, but Shattered Memories shouldn't have been called Silent Hill because why bother if your not going to even include the same level of subtility? Why bother naming it that way when (the first three) genre was based entirely on making the town itself a character around the protagonist with it's own atmosphere forming so organically to either reflect the protagonist or to continue it's own deep, dark hidden secrets.
@Gjkl345 If the characters and scenery weren't directly taken from the original game it probably could have been called something else, but what's done is done.
@Xjustin3009X They were taken because the creators knew they could get more buck for their bang, in otherwords, they knew any indie horror game would fall right down to the ground in sales if it wasn't associated in some way with another, huger, more famous game title.
This was an amazing game and it was my first real time playing a silent hill game.
It's sad that some people bring it down just because it's different from the other silent hills. I'm pretty sure if this game was just called. Harry Masons: Fucked up Frozen Adventure. It would have sold better without people bringing it down for not being related to the older games.

Apparently, Team Silent at one point mentioned the possibility of a split timeline, à la The Legend of Zelda. That's where I got that idea from.

okay, ive asked this a few times, but i really want to clarify. this is a 'what if' game, im assuming, that instead of silent hill 1 harry died, so nothing ever happened? cause so many things are different like kauffman being alive etc.... so, its not cannon to silent hill 1 and 3?

@dreadeddan93 yeah, this is pretty much a "What if harry died in the car accident, and Cheryl survived" kinda game. Thinking on it that way, you COULD say that it follows the ending where harry "Dreamed" the whole silent hill affair, and ends with him dead in the car.
But yes, it isn't canon to the first game's ending with Heather and third game's storyline.

This song is not as much creepy but depressing and deep thinking inducing. The piano is depressing, yet calming. The calming factor allows deeper than usual thinking, and connection to the song is not uncommon, adding to these effects. The song is one of which i use when i am stressed, need to think, or when i'm upset or bothered. The song does not always have a depressing effect on all people, but that effect would be more common to the people who know what the song is for and who can relate.

It may be VERY different from the regular Silent Hill series...but it was still emotional and pretty good, the gameplay might've been meh, in my opinion, but the music and the storyline made up for it. <3

Not going to spoil anything, but to those that have finished it, they must also think this is possibly the greatest game ending ever. Possibly even better than silent hill 2. I thought the running sequences were pretty shitty the first time through, but when I discovered that harry is meant to be protrayed as a coward, I thought it was just fucking genius.

This game is beyond underrated. People despise the gameplay and the "non horror chase scenes" compared to the other Silent Hills, which pisses me off more than anything.
I don't think this game was aiming to be horror, it was more aiming to be a psychological/emotional destroyer more than anything else. It MAKES you feel the characters pain, especially at the end. In my opinion, that emotional pain is much more fun and worth playing than a simple horror story.

@Xjustin3009X I absolutly agree with you, I just did a walkthrough today of this game and I had to try my hardest not to cry at the end 'cuz it would end up on their. It's still uploading at the moment, the qulity isn't very good tho :/ but I don't have the right tech, so I had to use my laptop. I also recorded Silent Hill 3 which is all uploaded on my channel now :) so it would be nice if people could watch it.

@Xjustin3009X Simple horror story? So Silent Hill was a simple horror story? The reason why people are pissed off is because if they wanted a psychological game, make a different title perhaps? Don't include it in the Silent Hill continuity even if it's just a spin-off retrospective if it's aiming for something completely different? Don't make a mockery of the originals by saying their simple horror. They revolutionized what fear truly symbolizes.

@Gjkl345 Yes I know it revolutionized things, I had to simplify what I was saying as it was getting too drastically long.
It's just re imagining of the first game, plus wasn't this done by a different company? ALL Silent Hill games have a psychological perspective, that's why it usually hits even harder at the end of the game. This game just pushed it even further. I haven't really heard an actual legitimate reason yet to call this game poor besides a few tiny flaws.

@Xjustin3009X The psychology involved in Shattered Memories was based on events that were presented like a slideshow, in that you collect the items to the correlating position to experience each individual aspect of insanity from someone that wasn't Harry Mason (or atleast used different voices from places far away from Silent Hill). The Original was much more subtle, everything from the monsters, the poetry, and the puzzles were designed to specially fit the story instead of showcasing.

@Gjkl345 Thus why it's a re imagining and not a remake. Each variation of the first game has their high points. The originals brought on definite horror and was a masterpiece in how it performed it. Shattered Memories was more focused on psychological horror instead of straight up 'scare you to death'. It's almost not possible to compare the two games since they both have very different personalities to begin with. I found both games incredible in their own ways, separately.

@Xjustin3009X I disagree with the "scare you to death" part. It had many moments that represented the obscurity of it's guest and the emotions involved to the beings or vessals venerating Silent Hill's form. In that way, it's much more subtle, much more psychologically horrifying then Resident Evil or Shattered Memories. The storyline alone for Silent Hill 2 proves my point. Shattered Memories actually downplays this by stopping the sequence and bringing you back into reality for brief moments.

@Xjustin3009X What I'm saying is that both games are great, but Shattered Memories shouldn't have been called Silent Hill because why bother if your not going to even include the same level of subtility? Why bother naming it that way when (the first three) genre was based entirely on making the town itself a character around the protagonist with it's own atmosphere forming so organically to either reflect the protagonist or to continue it's own deep, dark hidden secrets.

@Xjustin3009X They were taken because the creators knew they could get more buck for their bang, in otherwords, they knew any indie horror game would fall right down to the ground in sales if it wasn't associated in some way with another, huger, more famous game title.

This was an amazing game and it was my first real time playing a silent hill game.
It's sad that some people bring it down just because it's different from the other silent hills. I'm pretty sure if this game was just called. Harry Masons: Fucked up Frozen Adventure. It would have sold better without people bringing it down for not being related to the older games.
Awesome game, amazing story.

Nice song; the lyrics are particularly good. You did well posting the words but I believe she says"-Bases- are changing"(as in the word basis, yet in plural form), also I believe she says"angels refuse to come -near-". Hopefully I'm not seeming rude, I'm just really into lyrics, I could also be wrong even though I listened very carefully. Good upload.
