@ICharmaine Are you planning on attending this year? Just notified that my tickets will be delivered soon! Working on a costume. Theme "Rites of passage". I'm thinking of a half butterfly/halfcoccon.
I will be there next year! A friend of mine makes Wicker men to burn on sacred Celtic nights......would love to have been there this year.......But 2011 shall be the Blakean year......and whatever next.
@CKELLYful, Men built the tower of Babel not to glorify God, but to glorify themselves. And like what was said in this video at 3:25 with emphasis on one's self rather than God. "Please remember all I have done for you" The tone of that statement was so arrogant! We should be praising God for all He has done for us. Burning Man is not for God's glory. Burning Man is just a great big Pagan event. At the tower of Babel they where after making a name for themselves.
What is self if not God.......what is God but the wonderful discovery of the self......after all Jesus said, "To know me, know thyself". Jesus was the embodiment of self-hood, and I'm not talking of self-hood in the sense of ego, as a separating force..but self as a oneness, a wholeness..myself is yourself and is eternal. I don't think the video was arrigant. I thought it was a quite useful poignant dialogue between the person and his God, or his unified self (tho only he can say)
@CKELLYful, I can't find any quote in the Bible from Jesus that even comes close to. "To know me, know thyself" All Jesus' teachings & miracles point back to God, not self.
John 14:7 If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well.
I'm not saying this to be rude, but saying things like "myself is yourself and is eternal." is nonsensical. It is so easy to fall into this Pagan thinking. I was like this for many years, making up a god that fits with everything and me but not the BIble.
Nice! I've just moved to OR and plan on attending Burning Man here next year. Thanks for the preview of what's to come : )

Burning Man always make me think of when Moses went up to the Mountain, all the people put their gold together to build a golden calf to worship.

What is the burning supposed to signify? Don't assume that you would burn it for the same reason as I.
