Shotguns with slugs are actually preferred to use for deer hunting over rifles. The slugs travel a much shorter distance (overall) compared to a high power rifle (.308, .30-06, .270 etc.).

In most areas, hunting with buckshot is illegal. Shotguns for deer hunting is 99% of the time equipped with a slug. The shotgun's barrel can also be rifled to increase the accuracy of the slug.

I dont think ur reason shotguns arent used more in real combat is correct. Its more of the reason why they went from the M14 to the M16, not from shotguns to rifles. Shotguns arent that accurate and the range is no where near that of a rifle. Not saying shotguns arent effective in combat, but their usefulness is definitely limited.

I think he gets quite a few things wrong in this video. His main point about ammo capacity is mostly incorrect (high RoF mostly offesets high capacity). He also misses 2 key differences between rifles and shotguns.

1. Even though they have much better range in real life (90m) than in games, they still have much less range than rifles, which also have much better range in real life (500m) than in games.

2. Shotguns have very poor armor penetrating ability, while rifles have much more.
