If China was to go into conflict with these members, all its economic strength will deteriorate overtime. Plus Chinese defense budget is about 86 billion USD while the US is 616billion USD. US$ depriciation means kissing part of debt goodbye, talking about trillions of dollar. must say that not only US govt working irrational, Chinese govt is dumb enough to co-operate each year.

China can't "dump" all the dollar denominated debt at once, and if they tried, they would only impoverish themselves because the early sales would drive down the price of the bonds they still held, decreasing the returns they would get on the remaining reserves- and world markets can't absorb all the bonds at once- and the depreciation of the dollar would still only lead to more expensive imports for us and cheaper exports. In that way, it would be expansionary- so do it, China, make my day.

But, the alliance with europe is not strong, i live here and know popular opinion. Latin americas strongest economi, brazil,has a socialist government and the whole continent has an bone to pick with the US for decades of CIA ties to bloody regimes. Japan, who knows what the hell those guys would do in a pinch. India, with a fast growing economy of their own the would "shop around". End of the day, you have more to lose than china, most of them live in poverty allready. To bad really.....

China has just sign a free trade with the Asean countries and the use of Yuan for Trading.
Very soon the Middle East countries will also be using the Yuan and this will eventually
reduce the US$ dominaton in foreign trade.
