  • Is this school in Australia? The Sifu got Aussie accent. Where can I find this school?anyone knows plz help! :)

  • @gameofdeath4288 Do I????? No, school's in England.

  • @Sifuben Thank you :)

  • Good demo with a good explanation. Do you always step back to counter, we do a similar technique but step in and counter with a left bong-sau, right strike, just seems a tad quicker to step in, just my too penneth worth; but well explained. Thanks

  • @phillipkempo Stepping back opens it up nicely for the demonstration, that's all.

  • nice! Great demo! This helped satisfy some of my desire to 'gat back' into kung fu a bit

  • 盤橋=poon kiu^^

  • 盤橋??

  • Sorry, I can't read Chinese.

  • I use this all the time in training, and I've used it successfully for real (my day job can get hairy at times). Normally I just attack their lead hand with the first Poon Kiu, but as I said right at the start, it's expanded for the demonstration. As I say in the video, it's basically an underhook and collar tie which is a REALLY common tie up in fighting (watch any Randy Couture fight. It was also the cover illustration for one of Lee Koon Hung's CLF books.

  • @Sifuben very super good master !!!! well done ! very informative and super duper effective ,i love non-bullshit and non-fancy stuff like this vid. Thx bro u rock

  • Hi I agree with all of you guys. Poon kiu is very effective and can be adjusted a lot. But I agree that this very use of poon would be very rare (i guess???). I use it as a slap and then bum lands the sau choi :) Sifuben nice demo but try it on me :) regards

  • Gotcha, I usually use the analogy of Wing Chuns Pak Sau or Slap hand. Which can be used from all three ranges.

  • LOL Calm Down Devil. I understand where your coming from but your going to pop a blood vessel. Your Right BTW, this is not the way to practice a drill it needs to be sponateous and Fast, I've been in my fair share of fights and they are never static and never prearranged which is why I do not teach 2-man forms. They help, but not in a real fight.

  • It's not a drill, it's a demonstration.

  • If it encircles, then by definition it's Poon Kiu. You've never seen an MMA fighter do a cuff and underhook?

  • hi again. i visited your website and found answers to all my questions. thanks and bye

  • choy li fut has 100's of techniques so if one technique does not work for you then chances are there will be another one in the system more suited to your style or body type ,unlike boxing where they emphasise on only a few strikes and blocks so a bigger fighter would have more of an advantage against a smaller fighter etc etc

  • sorry for double comment. how long have you been practising clf?

  • no chance for a double poon kiu. no time for that. unless the attacker waits with his arm extended. i haven't seen a boxer or mma fighter perform a poon. even if i tell you where im gonna hit, you wont be able to pook the punch. or you'll make your poon veeery short and not that circular, but thats not a poon any more. ive been into clf for a long time, met lots of masters, and many of them agree some stuff is pure theory. poon never worked for me. but maybe im just too slow:P regards

  • @CLFsilesia what he shows hew is not really poon kiu. its a snake movement. its ment to be an eye strike and redirection. I might make a vidoe to debunk this kind of thing. I have seen many bastardised versions of poon kiu. Its not that hard to understand how it works if its done correctly.

  • @azumaninjay "debunk" what exactly? If it is a bridge and it encircles, then it is Poon Kiu. The technique shown is the Poon Kiu from the Jiangmen lineage of CLF as passed down by GGM Wong Gong. The Poon Kiu from the Futsan and King Mui lines are different in their details, but in their essence are the same, because they adhere to the seed concept of Poon. How exactly is this bastardised? It's actually a pretty pure illustration of the teachnique as performed in the jiangmen line.

  • @Sifuben Not all of what I said was directed at you. I was also refering to other videos that I have seen on you tube. There is too much for me to say in the comment box. I will say this though. The technique you used would not work on anyone with skill. Please don't take what I said as an attack on you personaly. I don't mean it to be. I will make a vidoe response so we can have a more accurate discussion about it. I will try to have it up in a few days.

  • The risk is lessened by the retreat.I'm not there to be hit. For real I'd use a much shorter Poon, but as it says I'm showing it in an expanded fashion for demonstartion purposes.

  • hi. you really shouldn't tell people you can poon kiu a straight punch (or chap chui as in video) coming at full speed. we both know it just doesn't work unless you're lucky. not worth the risk. poon kiu is much more useful to enter and open opponent's guard to make way for a sau choi for example. no disrespect intended. peace brother.

  • @CLFsilesia "tsop choy"
