Simple lyrics, one chord... it's definitely folk punk. For bluegrass, you need to add some finger picking. And a banjo and a mandolin. Maybe a fiddle. And lyrics about the place you grew up, or your mama, or God. In a minor key, you could sing about a creepy legend, or lost love, or death.
